Primary Job Function
The Health Information Technician II is responsible for analyzing medical records for completion; completing legal, insurance, and correspondence request for patient information; tracking medical record movement through the Meditech system. The Health Information Technician II serves as a liaison between the Health Information Management Department and other hospital departments, physicians, patients and other external customers.
High school graduate or its equivalent.
Minimum of six months medical record experience unless waiver granted due to past work experience or education.
Proficient computer skills and competent PC keyboarding skills.
Ability to use calculator, copier and fax machine.
Analytical ability and judgment in prioritizing the performance of tasks, duties and responsibilities in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures, both written and those verbally communicated.
Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple tasks simultaneously combined with the ability to effectively prioritize.
High degree of accuracy with concentration and close attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with associates, department managers, Hospital Administration and business associates outside the hospital presenting a professional image as a representative of MarionGeneralHospitaland the Health Information ManagementDepartment.
Typical office environment. Requires ability to work any shift, holidays or weekends
Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment:
Continual manipulation of charts, reports, books and files. Prolonged sitting, turning, eye strain and repetitive wrist, finger and hand movement. Use of Personal Computer and standard office equipment (e.g. telephone, fax, copier, reader printer). Occasional use of ladder, stooping, reaching, bending and standing.
