Full Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated individual contributor with accounting, corporate finance and/or capital markets experience to join the Nordstrom Treasury team. This position will focus on preparing strategic analyses that supports the company’s capital structure and liquidity goals, including long-range planning and other strategic finance-related activities. The ideal candidate will have the ability to identify financial risks, communicate them effectively to team members while simultaneously providing management with realistic solutions to address such issues. This candidate should be able to balance multiple priorities at the same time, be timely and accurate with their deliverables, and be pro-active about finding solutions to problems before they arise.
A day in the life…
Ownership over Nordstrom’s three statement financial model (P&L, BS, CFS), maintained in partnership with the Corporate FP&A and Accounting teams
Play a key role in supporting Treasury’s deliverables to Corporate FP&A in regard to the budgeting (annual) and forecasting (monthly/quarterly) processes, including materials for quarterly Board meetings
Maintain the Company’s target capital structure through analysis and execution of strategies related to capital raising (bond/bank-loan issuance, equity issuance, liability management, etc.), financial risk hedging (interest rate, FX, etc.), and shareholder return initiatives (share repurchases, dividends)
Build financial models that assist in evaluating capital structure decisions, including potential impacts to Company credit ratings and liquidity
Support ongoing dialogue with credit rating agencies, banks, and other external partners with thoughtful analysis and pointed presentation materials
Collaborate with the Accounting and working capital teams (Merchandising, AP) to continuously improve balance sheet and cash flow forecasting abilities
Lead Company-wide Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) planning and reporting
Develop financial models for evaluating ad hoc strategic initiatives
You own this if you have…
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Accounting or Finance
CPA, MBA, CFA, or comparable experience preferred
Experience in accounting/finance/treasury functions with knowledge of financial theory and cash flow analysis
Proven experience in financial modeling and business performance analysis
High-level understanding of the working capital cash cycle
5+ years in a consulting, investment banking, accounting or corporate finance environment
Problem solver, take-ownership mentality, strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to independently develop processes and deliver quality output with little direction
Excellent software skills: Excel (integrating formulas and functions in financial models), PowerPoint (development of executive level presentation materials), Essbase (preferred), and Bloomberg (preferred)
