The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM) at Washington State University is embarking on the accreditation and development of a next generation medical school designed to train students to be physician leaders, who innovate, adapt and discover in an ever changing healthcare landscape. The School is now inviting applications for the position of Office Assistant who will join the Medical Education and Clinical Sciences team in leading the college into the future.

Under general supervision, the position is responsible for independently performing a variety of complex clerical projects and assignments, within established guidelines, to support activities within the Department of Medical Education and Clinical Sciences and the Elson. S. Floyd College of Medicine. These may include but are not limited to administrative support to executive leaders, scheduling meetings and events, calendar coordination, producing letters, forms, meeting materials and other documents requiring strong Microsoft Office skills; database entry, spreadsheet maintenance and responding to inquiries which require substantive knowledge of policies and procedures.

A courteous manner and a high-level of professionalism is required as this role frequently interacts with executive team leaders from the college, campus and university system, as well as, community and business leaders throughout the state.

The College
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is Washington’s premier community-based medical school. It is named after the university’s late president, Elson S. Floyd. Dr. Floyd believed that Washington State University, as the state’s land-grant institution, should train doctors to serve all of Washington.

The mission of the School is to: Develop practical solutions to challenging problems in disease prevention, health care access and delivery; Train primary care physicians who will work in Washington and help alleviate a shortage of doctors, especially in rural and under-served areas; and Develop a strong research component, with faculty members who work on innovative projects, sharing what they know with students in classroom and research settings.

Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High School graduation or equivalent and two years of clerical experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements
Demonstrated strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook and Word.

Demonstrated excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Demonstrated experience interacting with executives and/or management in a professional environment.

Demonstrated experience preparing correspondence, reports and/or presentations.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience working in a reception or front desk setting.

Demonstrated experience providing support to an individual or group of individuals at the executive, senior leadership, director, and/or manager level.

Demonstrated experience in the healthcare industry.

Demonstrated experience working in the higher education industry.
