Full Job Description
Reporting to the Director, IT Project Management Office, the Business Analyst (BA) will be responsible for identifying the business and data challenges facing the fundraising and service units within the University Alumni and Development Program (UADP). The UADP IT team will rely on the Business Analyst as a trusted resource for timely and accurate analysis.
The Business Analyst is a highly collaborative position with insight into and collaboration with all roles within the program. This position serves as a primary facilitator for crossteam communication and collaboration related to IT projects which support the UADP’s strategic goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with UADP Staff, Directors, and other team members to define business requirements and document new or existing business processes and/or workflows.
Proactively assess needs and use diplomacy and negotiating skills when working with other individuals both within and outside of the UADP to define business solutions.
Work closely with individuals internally both within UA and UADP to obtain the requirements used to define solutions which meet the business needs of the program.
Identify gaps, overlaps, and conflicting information in scope and requirements.
Work closely with the IT team to resolve issues.
Responsible for creating documentation, including:
Business requirements and user stories.
Technical business need and/or technical business use case.
Testing plans and reports.
Iterative prototypes of solutions as required to demonstrate and ensure business alignment with proposals
Actively seek gaps and issues in business processes, and make recommendations to remedy them.
Actively support Blackbaud BBCRM and BBIS business processes, testing and documentation and make recommendations to improve them.
Ability to gather, analyze and document information clearly and efficiently.
Own and develop a relationship with partners, working with them to optimize and enhance our integration.
Create wireframes and utilize other modeling techniques.
Perform backend database testing including validating stored procedures, jobs, and triggers.
Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues to management.
Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
Support the collection, reporting and analysis of project status and metrics.
Manage small scale projects and understand basic project management principles.
Respond promptly and effectively to constituents and colleagues, clarifying requests and providing guidance and suggestions to assure that the resultant information appropriately addresses the request.
Lead, mentor, and coach junior level team members of the Project Management Office.
Attend training sessions, user group meetings, and seminars to keep abreast of technological changes.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

Keeps up to date with industry best practices and trends. Continuously updates the technical architecture based on changing technologies and knowledge related to vendor solutions.
Recommends and participates in the design and implementation of standards, tools, and methodologies.
Prepares for and facilitates Agile planning sessions with Agile delivery teams and assists with prioritizing user stories.
Assists with project scoping and effort estimations.
Partner with project management team members to support project planning, setup and tracking.
Works with team to support projects immediately while helping transition employees to Agile environment.
Coaches team to adhere to Scrum framework and to improve their processes.
Facilitates daily stand-ups, sprint review meetings retrospectives meetings, and other related meetings.
Facilitates cross-team coordination.
Coaches team(s) to predictable delivery.
Fosters team collaboration and communication.
Removes impediments to the team’s ability to perform by working closely with Product Managers/Business Owners/Development and support organizations.
Facilitates team development, mediates conflicts and encourages healthy team dynamics.
Protects the team and minimizes disruptions.
Mentors team members and other stakeholders on Agile best practices.
Contributes to and adapts in a highly collaborative working environment.
Strong software and computer skills, including MS Office applications.
Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, related area or equivalent experience.
Five (5) or more years of Business Analysis experience.
Three (3) or more years of managing work streams or bodies of work experience.
Experience working in an academic environment.
Experience working in an Advancement.
Experience with donor database systems such as Blackbaud BBCRM and BBIS.
Demonstrated ability to be professional, diplomatic, persuasive, donor centric, collegial, and effective in working with dynamic, diverse groups to include families, students, faculty, alumni, professionals, university leadership and others.
Demonstrated excellence in providing superb customer service skills.
Must handle confidential information with discretion.
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education as approved by Human Resources.
Experience with business process modeling.
Strong understanding of business and/or financial processes.
Experience with Agile project management.
Experience with Confluence and Jira.
