We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in our virtual school setting. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in educating students with diverse needs, including autism. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of classroom management, childhood development, and lesson planning. Your experience working with students and familiarity with standardized testing will be essential in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.
**Duties:**
- Plan and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student.
- Utilize evidence-based practices to promote cognitive and social development.
- Develop and teach lessons that align with state standards, incorporating accommodations for students with special needs.
- Monitor student progress through standardized testing, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive educational experience.
- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
- Proven experience in lesson planning and implementing IEPs.
- Familiarity with standardized testing and assessment tools.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles.
- Experience working in a virtual school setting. Proficiency with Google Suite!
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in special education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
