Role Summary:
GE Software is looking for a Sr Software Engineer to work on a number of exciting projects that will have a very positive impact on GE’s business. This position will focus on our Workforce Management Solutions. Responsible for programming a component, feature and or feature set. Works independently and contributes to the immediate team and to other teams across business. Contributes to design discussions.

Essential Responsibilities:
Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts.
Ability to take ownership of medium to large sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members.
Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices and make recommendations.
Drives pair programming practices and code reviews across the team.
Demonstrates awareness or product positioning and key differentiators.
Expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems.
Skilled in core data structures and algorithms and implements them using appropriate chosen language.
Promotes transparency by proactively sharing design choices with appropriate audiences, with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness.
Demonstrates expert understanding of functional and nonfunctional requirements and their priority within the backlog.

Qualifications/Requirements:Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience

Must be willing to work out of an office in San Diego, CA

Desired Characteristics:
Experience developing web applications (Java, Spring, RESTful, Jersey, RestEasy,JAX-WS, Web Services, NodeJS)
Experience with database knowledge (MySQL)
Experience with front-end technologies such as Javascript, HTML5, CSS, AngularJS, BackboneJS, EmberJS, KnockoutJS
Experience with database tools (JPA, Hibernate,JDBC, Spring Data)
Experience with rules engines (Camel, Drools, JRules) & modern tooling (Gradle, Maven, Git, SVN)Business Acumen:
Have a solid understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application
Has the ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks
Has the ability to make basic technology choices based on experience
Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry Leadership:
Has the ability to take ownership of small tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary
Voices opinions and presents clear rationale. Uses data or factual evidence to influence
Recognizes collaborative behavior and participates in collaborative activities
