We are currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in our Chicago regional office with design experience to serve as a senior engineer on various building projects. In this role you will be the heart and face of design projects and lead the structural design team to success. This position reports to the project principal, an Officer of the Company. This is a career growth opportunity leading to an Associate Engineer position with all responsibilities assigned thereto. The successful candidate shall have the following responsibilities:
· Provide a leadership role in the company’s new design structural engineering department.
· Intimate working knowledge for the complete design and engineering of predominant structural systems.
· Delegating manpower for projects as they relate to deadlines for production, project management in collaboration with other senior project managers and staff.
· Development of structural design calculations, specifications, and oversight of the development of structural drawings including coordination with Geotechnical, Architectural, and Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing sub-consultants.
· Knowledge and experience with the structural design of concrete including precast, conventional, and post-tensioned cast-in-place, structural steel and masonry.
· Excellent knowledge of reference standards and building codes as they apply to the design of foundations, superstructures, and related building components.
· Development of structural specifications, review of shop drawings, on-site review of construction progress, on-site pre-pour construction conferences, review of testing and inspection reports, development of field reports, and development of design and construction affidavits.
· The position requires working under and collaborating with senior staff, including project principals, senior project management staff and junior and mid-level architecture and engineering staff on parking related projects which are delivered as a prime and/or sub-consultant role.
Requirements:
· Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
· Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as an Engineer in commercial structures with demonstrated career progression required through establishment of an NCEES record required.
· Registered as a licensed P.E. and S.E. in Illinois and be willing to or have reciprocity in multiple states.
· Candidate will be required the review, sign and stamp projects as the Structural Engineer of Record for any projects produced for the Company.
· Exceptional working knowledge of building codes, particularly ACI, AISC and ASCE reference standards, IBC building codes, and PCI & PTI Design Guidelines.
· Proficiency in MS Office Suite and working knowledge or familiarity with engineering software including, RISA 3D, ETABS, SP-SLAB, SP-Column, Retain-Pro, PT-Data & PT-Data + beams, girders, AutoCAD and Revit (working knowledge preferred).
· Candidates should be proficient in entering data into engineering programs and spreadsheets and manipulating it.
· Analyze technical data, and review submittals.
· Candidates should be able to express themselves clearly and concisely using standard business grammar, punctuation and vernacular.

· Candidates are expected to be punctual, self-initiating and conscientious. Candidates should be capable of working in an office environment with a business team approach and, on an as-needed basis; outside of the office at the project site for project conditions reviews and site visits.
