Applicant must have experience in responsible clerical or office work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. In addition to the above requirement, applicant must have knowledge of service-based programs and objectives in order to identify training requirements, skill upgrades, and development programs that will assist in meeting squadron business management objectives. Must be familiar with military and civilian training programs or processes, or training program processes in parallel business and industry organizations. Knowledge of and skill in developing course materials, instructional methods and making classroom presentations. Skill in use of audio-visual equipment and automation software, including all Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must be able to independently work in a fast paced environment. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must possess skill in dealing with customers. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Position of Trust.

The purpose of this position is to serve as the Unit Training Manager (UTM) responsible for planning, administering, developing and evaluating a complete training and readiness program for all nonappropriated fund (NAF), appropriated fund (APF) and military personnel assigned to the Force Support Squadron.

Develops the Force Support training plan for Squadron Commander/Director approval. The training plan incorporates all squadron training requirements for military personnel, APF and NAF civilians in the FSS. Continuously consults with managers and supervisors to identify training requirements for assigned personnel and ensures higher headquarters directives are fulfilled in the training plan.

Identifies vendors/resources such as private sector, OPM, Air Force, and/or industry standards to support squadron training needs and Air Force requirements. Develops and implements testing procedures for required certification. Manages Advanced Distributed Learning Service (ADLS). Ensures all personnel requiring training are trained, documenting and updating training records once completed, and tracking individual and collective status.

Manages the Air Force Training Record (AFTR) and the on-the-job (OJT) training program for all military personnel. Ensures effective and compliant use of AFTR by establishing employee records of scheduled and completed training; updates information into AFTR as required. Ensures military personnel are properly enrolled in Career Development Courses (CDC) as required.

Develops formal or informal training courses for personnel in the various force support functional activities. This involves developing course plans and outlines, developing or locating appropriate handout material, and insuring courses are evaluated upon completion.

Conducts “train the trainer” instruction in order to teach designated squadron trainers the fundamentals of curriculum development and instructional techniques and effective job skills training including initial orientation, qualification/upgrade, and recurring training for the trainer’s functional activity. Tracks and promptly processes formal training requests for all FSS personnel.

Ensure all training data calls are completed, reviewed by the commander and submitted on time as required by higher headquarters, commanders and the Base Training office. Implement and manage training programs, trackers, policies and procedure compliance as directed by AFI 36-2201, higher headquarters, commanders and Base Training office. Any applicable operating instructions outlining squadron training program responsibilities and the Commander’s policy letter on training are also included.
