The State Bar of California (“State Bar”) is a public corporation within the judicial branch of government whose missions are public protection and access to justice for all citizens. The Office of General Counsel (OGC) employs the in-house attorneys to the State Bar to support these missions. The legal work in OGC includes advice to and representation of the State Bar Board of Trustees, committees and staff in administrative and civil trial and appellate litigation and transactional work in substantive areas such as: Bar discipline and admissions; diversity and access to justice initiatives; labor and employment; intellectual property; bankruptcy; real estate; contracts; privacy; ethics; regulatory and legislative work; governance; public records and open meeting laws; and, general corporate matters. OGC also reviews closures of disciplinary complaints filed against attorneys, but does not handle attorney discipline proceedings in State Bar Court.

The successful candidate will be placed in classification and provided a salary commensurate with their experience.
Active membership in the State Bar of California and no professional disciplinary record in California or any other jurisdiction are required.
