In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
About the Program:
Wayfinder Family Services’, The Haven, provides basic and therapeutic foster care and residential services for unaccompanied immigrant children with a variety of racial, ethnic, gender, geographic and language backgrounds. The Haven offers individualized, child-centered, trauma-informed services sensitive to the age, culture, religion, dietary needs, native language, sexual orientation, and gender identity of each child. Services to support individualized needs include Acculturation and Adaption, Case Management, Educational Services (including vocational), and Mental Health Services. In addition, Wayfinder will provide family finding to locate extended family or non-relative extended family who are viable, suitable sponsors to ultimately develop a transition and release children as rapidly as possible. Program services will protect children from abuse and neglect, enable unaccompanied children to achieve stability in their living situations, improve or maintain a high level of youth functioning, provide bed availability for children when needed, and achieve high levels of satisfaction from program participation.
Role Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the program’s daily operations, including staffing and service delivery; monitoring intakes for effective engagement and documentation; youth and foster family participation and progress; progress toward performance outcomes; and reporting requirements. The program director provides clinical, administrative, and staff development support to staff and monitors quality-of-service delivery in compliance with contractual and jurisdictional regulations of the federal contract. The director maintains a treatment environment that reflects best practice standards.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains current knowledge of the U.S. Resettlement Program and Office of Refugee Resettlement Unaccompanied Children’s Program.

Maintains current knowledge of all Refugee and Immigrant Services.

Develops and maintain goals, strategic initiatives, objectives, priorities, and written guidelines governing program operations, Interface with the Los Angeles Office of Licensing and Monitoring, and the Office of Refugee Resettlement

Develops and executes policies and procedures and a system of accountability that tracks the quality of service, program budget, relevant documentation, and adherence to regulatory and contractual requirements – including Council on Accreditation and jurisdiction standards.

Effectively supervises, evaluates, and directs the work of a diverse group of employees. Timely completion of performance appraisals, regular supervisory meetings, performance documentation, staff development, and supervision for success best practices. Manages personnel functions, including recruitment, hiring, retention, and staff discipline.

Coordinates the scheduling, development, and implementation of recruitment activities to maintain a pool of diverse and culturally sensitive families for the UC Long-Term Foster Care programs.

Inspects group home units regularly for compliance with current regulations and sanitation (at least monthly).
- Maintains a 24/7 on-call key staff rotation for attending crisis intervention services unless otherwise arranged with the VP, of Clinical and Housing Services.

Promotes awareness of refugee resettlement and TFC programs to the community. Participate in public speaking engagements related to the TFC program and services provided by the organization.

Performs other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by the Vice President, Clinical and Housing Services.
Education/Certifications:
-
Master’s degree in social work or equivalent degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science degree required.
- Must be willing to obtain and/or maintain a current Group Home Administrator’s Certification.
Experience:

Knowledge of the United States Resettlement and Unaccompanied Children’s Program, and Los Angeles foster care laws and processes preferred.

Knowledge of community resources and services systems.

Fluency in Spanish preferred.
Specific Requirements:

Valid CA Driver License with a minimum of two (2) years good driving history and must be approved by the agency’s insurance carrier to drive agency vehicles. Or ability to facilitate travel for and with clients to and from potential job sites and lesson destinations used for training, using available transportation resources which may include public transportation, rideshare, etc.
