The NMG Program Manager 2 drives strategic projects for the Nordstrom Merchandising Group (NMG). These strategies will span business, organizational, process and technology areas of focus. The ideal candidate is motivated, analytical, and results-oriented. This position reports to the NMG Mgr of Program Management – Price.
A day in the life…
The NMG Program Manager 2 will contribute to the development and execution of projects for the Nordstrom Merchandising Group. Efforts include but are not limited to:
Analytics: Conduct high-impact analysis for strategic merchandising initiatives including financial model development
Insights: Compile and summarize findings across financial, customer and market data
Content Development: Create compelling materials to effectively communicate outcomes of insights and tee up strategic decisions
Program Management: Effectively partner across the business to align on scope, define timeline, track risks/issues, drive decisions and deliver on commitments
The ideal candidate is motivated, proactive and results-oriented. This individual has a unique blend of strategic, analytic and collaboration skills with demonstrated experience in strategy implementation. The individual should be comfortable working in a fast paced environment, dealing with ambiguity, engaging stakeholders in a productive, positive way and setting the course for the business to help drive Nordstrom growth
Lead the preparation of Executive level materials through comprehensive internal and external research and analysis
Define and shape analysis approach to effectively meet business objectives
Use compiled data and research to deliver compelling insights and drive capability/process enhancements that shape the organization
Build high-impact financial models to support key business decisions on merchandising activities
Manage multiple project inputs simultaneously in a rapidly changing environment
Effectively identify and escalate risks & issues impacting project outcomes
Understand how the Merchandising Group priorities align with Nordstrom’s company-wide initiatives
Influence stakeholder expectations through direct relationships
Collaborate with peers and leaders within the company to ensure project outcomes align with priorities and direction
Facilitate decision making by bringing forward decisions for leadership ensuring that options are clearly outlined with necessary information to make informed decisions
Build familiarity with merchandising data, systems, tools and processes
Stay current on industry best practices, trends, processes and new technology, assessing and communicating their potential impact to the business
You own this if you have…
Have 3-5 years of relevant work experience in business operations, retail or management consulting
Strong analytical skills, with experience using large data sets and tools to inform decisions
Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, research and analyze problems
Ability to collect data, establish facts, assess results, and draw sound conclusions
Strong interest in retail and understanding of fashion merchandising
Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Clear and effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
