Papich Construction is currently conducting a search for an Aggregates Outside Sales Representative to join our team in the Materials Division-Sierra Pacific Materials. Since 1997, Papich Construction has helped build communities throughout California as a respected full-service general engineering contractor.
This position is responsible for the marketing of products and services, within assigned territory and developing new markets while expanding current customer base. This is a skilled position requiring the effective management of aggregate sales with exceptional customer service. Provide customers with product insight and pricing information for a variety of projects. While maintaining existing client base, execute canvassing methods to increase market share. Identify key opportunities, implement troubleshooting schematics, institute creative ideas and effectively build relationships to increase company profit.
This is a field-based position within our Valley Territory: Kern/Tulare/Frenso counties and the surrounding areas. Selected candidate must live within Valley Territory.
Responsibilities
- Sells products to business/industrial establishments or individuals utilizing knowledge of the product sold, aggregate use for Construction, Concrete products, and asphalt plants
- Builds and maintains a customer base covering a territory assigned
- Increases sales volume for products and services, while maintaining sales expense budget
- Compiles a list of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from a variety of sources
- Develops and maintains profiles of customers and competitors
- Responsible for product quality. Responsible for meeting customer, agency and job specific specifications
- Tracks product inventory to ensure adequate supply of product is available to meet customers’ needs
- Coordinates product delivery if necessary
- Monitors customer accounts to ensure prompt payment of goods and services
- Analyzes market potential, including competitive pricing, activities, market trends, and other relevant facts and report findings to the Materials Sales Operations Manager
- Keeps up-to-date on product changes, selling strategies, competitive surveillance methods, expense control, etc.
- Maintains continual vigilance over competitors’ programs and pricing and include these observations in written reports as required to include price, product changes/improvement, terms of sales and service
- Maintains proper product and service positioning in the marketplace to ensure maximum profit potential while maintaining maximum goodwill with customers
- Establishes annual sales projections by product and recommends program to reach sales projections to the Materials Sales Operations Manager
- Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reporting is accurate and timely
- Professionally represent the company at industry, trade association, customer, legislative and technical meetings and various social and business functions

Qualifications
- Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
- This role requires knowledge of aggregates with at least 3 years of sales experience in the industry
- Must be well versed in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint
- Math skills to perform pricing calculations and generating reports
- High standard of ethics, integrity and trust
- Strong organizational skills, excellent time management skills and ability to work unsupervised
- Communication skills: Providing clear and concise information and guidance regarding compliance-related issues to employees, senior-level management, contractors, subcontractors and other key stakeholders both orally and in writing
- Customer service skills: able to build rapport, establish relationships, influence and partner with people across all levels of the company with ease
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
- Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
- Maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements
- Have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards
- Candidates with a book of business/contacts highly desired
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office work, site work, and travel that may or may not involve overnight lodging may be necessary. Outdoor work at mining, manufacturing and construction locations. Willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
This is a full-time, exempt position. Competitive starting salary.
