Controls / Integration Co-Op
During the cooperative assignment, this position will develop skills in the building automation and integration industry. The applicant should be able to work with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Computer programming that utilizes industry standard software tools to develop programs to control building systems such as HVAC, Lights, Card Access, Video Surveillance, Motorized Shades, and Utility Monitoring
Designing computer generated graphics to be applied as a user interface for building engineers and owners that accurately represents building systems
Application engineering with the use of Microsoft Visio to design control systems
Assist in project cost estimating and technical proposal writing
Perform on site engineering to ensure proper functionality of control components
A solid understanding of mechanical systems and how a building automation system is applied to them in a real-world environment.
Work closely with all employees in the control’s division and throughout Sluss + Padgett to ensure timely, profitable, and complete projects.
Review scope of work required for each job.
Ensure pictures are taken prior to and after project is completed.
Ensure that all mechanical equipment operates as intended and designed.
Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive details; must be able to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline oriented.
Ability to interact effectively with General Contractors, Labor Subcontractors, Commercial Clients, and internal Sluss Padgett personnel at all levels of the organization.
Must have a Solid reputation of highest integrity and excellent work ethic.
Valid Driver’s License and ability to commute to office and/or jobsites as required
Must pass criminal background, credit check and drug screen in accordance with the Drug Free Work Zone requirements.
Education and/or Experience
A High School Diploma or equivalent
Certifications – not required but highly considered a plus:
Understanding of Microsoft Visio

Requires constant movement including considerable use of arms and legs, movement of the entire body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and handling of materials. Considerable time is spent using hands to handle, operate, activate, inspect, place, detect control or feel objects, tools or controls. Climbing stairs and ladders, balancing, ascending/descending, working atop of buildings or floors and on roofs is required the majority of the job. Must be able to work from heights using ladders, scaffolds or lifts. Must be able to carry, move, transport, position, install, remove or continuously lift weight up to 75 lbs. Must be able to work with majority exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
Worker must be able to ascend/descend ladders. Worker must be able to meet a ladder duty rating up to Type IAA (Extra Heavy Duty) of 375 lbs. Total weight consideration includes employee weight, weight of clothing and PPE, weight of tools and supplies carried and the weight of tools and supplies stored on the ladder.
Worker is regularly required to sit, talk, see and hear. The ability to communicate, speak and understand clearly is required the majority of the time.
