Since 2010, Bar-S has been the US operating division of Sigma Alimentos, Mexico’s leader in the production and distribution of refrigerated and frozen foods. Originally devoted to processed meats, in 1994, Sigma began diversifying into other product categories, including yogurt, cheese and ready-to-serve meals. Sigma’s hundreds of meat and dairy products are sold and distributed to deli, retail grocery, warehouse club, and other institutional customers under not only the Bar-S brand, but other familiar and successful brands such as FUD, LaChona, and San Rafael. Headquartered in Phoenix, Bar-S employs approximately 4,500 people and operates production, manufacturing, and distribution centers throughout the US.

Position Summary

The IT Project Administrator contributes essential project support for IT initiatives. This position is responsible for scheduling meeting times and locations, for tracking and assigning tasks, assisting presentation development, and tracking project metrics. This position will also work with project team members and users from other departments, and will need to be able to handle multiple projects at a time. The IT Project Administrator will help keep the project team on task, addressing and escalating concerns and obstacles when necessary. Approximately 50% of time will be spent supporting the SAP implementation project. The other 50% will be supporting other projects.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Updates status of project(s) using the project portfolio management tool (Cherwell, Excel).
  • Responsible for meeting logistics such as coordinating schedules of large groups, meeting room setup, food orders, taking action items, and distributing meeting minutes.
  • Tracks spend, tasks, and issues and sends status reports to team and stakeholders.
  • Assists with proposals, plans, timelines, schedules and budgets.
  • Monitors and tracks project progress, recommends corrective actions, and escalates issues as necessary.

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree required
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in IT project administration
  • Certifications or courses in Project Management is a plus

Skills and Abilities

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Desktop Applications – Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must be organized and able to work on multiple projects at a time
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for a full shift of at least 8 hours;
  • Ability to stand for at least 2 hours at a time; and
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 25 lbs for an hour, at least twice a day.

Work Environment

The IT Project Administrator will be located at Bar-S’s corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. The position reports directly to the DVP, Information Technology and will support and take direction from other members of the IT Leadership Team. This position has no direct reports.
