Position Summary: This position is responsible for providing strategic human resource support to the manufacturing plant operation. This role builds and maintains positive relationships with employees at all levels and works directly with plant management to drive HR initiatives in support of business objectives. This position will support a broad range of human resource activities including, but limited to, employee engagement, performance management, recruitment and selection, equal employment, labor relations and grievance tracking, employee benefits, compliance training and policy distribution.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with plant management to develop and execute HR initiatives in support of plant goals and objectives.
Partner with all levels of management and employees to communicate various HR objectives and procedures in compliance with company policy, employment law and collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Interprets and ensures equitable compliance and adherence of company policies, employment laws and union CBA.
Serve as first point of contact for management and provide appropriate support and guidance in regards to employee/labor relations issues, inquiries and complaints. Investigate complaints, grievances and related issues and draft and report findings to respond appropriately in partnership with HR Manager, legal counsel and management.
Partners and manages CBA grievance proceedings with union business agent.
Provide proactive and reactive consultation and coaching on employee/labor relations issues including assisting managers with performance reviews, leadership bench/succession planning, progressive discipline and performance management plans.
Partner with plant management regarding staffing needs and maintain accountability of third party agency support.
Manage the applicant process, including but not limited to: source and identify candidates, review and screen resumes, and interview candidates at all levels.
Build strong business partnerships with Hiring Managers by developing effective recruiting strategies. Effectively manage applicants through applicant tracking system from application to onboarding.
Collaborate with management to manage and administer the performance management process including evaluation of union and nonunion employees.
Serve as safety team member and be an advocate for safety in the workplace.
Serve as first point of support for all benefit and leave related questions and issues; consult with specialist as needed.
Coordinate and facilitate training as needed in the areas of management and employee development, diversity, harassment, onboarding orientations, and performance management. Assists in the coordination of LBP University initiatives.
Support department and company-wide special projects and additional responsibilities as they present themselves.

Required Skills and Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
5-7 years of broad human resource experience.
3-5 years of employee relations experience within a manufacturing operation.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Attention to detail, ability to coach employees and management through complex and difficult issues.
Ability to build relationships across the company.
PHR certification preferred.
