The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Space Situational Awareness Graduate Intern for an internship opportunity. This position will be located in Chantilly, VA.
The qualified candidate will become part of the Mission Analysis and Operations Department. The internship will focus on space situational awareness topics, for example, orbital debris, satellite reentry, and collision avoidance.
Work with department staff as part of the project team(s).
Tasking will vary during the internship and may include multiple, simultaneous projects.
Apply in-house or custom-developed analysis tools as necessary.
Develop new analysis tools and techniques as necessary.
Participates with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs with academic collaboration partners.
Applies standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks.
Training and mentorship will be provided.

Bachelor's degree completed and currently enrolled at an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
Aptitude in astrodynamics and related mathematics is required.
Aptitude and demonstrated skills in the development and use of computer tools required.
Dependability and good interpersonal skills are required.
Ability to take direction and work independently is critical, coupled with intuition to know when to ask for help.
Demonstrated skills in documentation and presentation of results, a written sample is required.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Minimum GPA 3.0
Must be able to obtain a security clearance
US Citizenship required
GPA 3.5 or higher
Active security clearance
Experience in space situational awareness topics such as orbital debris, satellite reentry and/or collision avoidance is desired.
