Roof Observer - Technical Assurance Inc., a Cleveland-based national building envelope consulting group, is seeking qualified individuals to join our team. Technical Assurance manages building enclosure consulting and design for assignments of any size or scope. As a multi‐state professional firm, we have successfully delivered program solutions across 50 different states to‐date. Qualified candidates must possess knowledge of commercial roofing systems, client relation skills, basic computer skills and be willing to travel. Registered Roof Observer credential is preferred, but not required.

Must be a United States citizen and able to show proof of citizenship (permissible under Title VII bona fide occupational qualification).

This position may require you to undergo a Federal Government security clearance process for work in classified or highly restricted areas. This process carries with it mandatory drug screening and substantial background check.

This role is multi-dimensional. The primary responsibility is to perform roof construction observation services, but preventative maintenance, construction administration and inspections may also be required on an as-need basis. May require up to 80% travel.

Roof Construction Observer Responsibilities

  • Read and understand blueprints and specifications.
  • Verify materials comply with specifications
  • Verify construction techniques comply with specifications
  • Utilizing standard forms and templates, complete daily observation report and upload pictures
  • Monitor schedule and contractor performance
  • Assist with Change Orders
  • Respond to all technical and guarantee questions accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Roof Inspector Role Requirements:

  • Inspect roof assets with a focus on what is needed to preserve and extend roof life cycle
  • Assess roof condition including active leak issues, overall condition and deterioration
  • Make specific recommendations based on roof inspection/assessment
  • Ensure that assessment reports, proposals, inspection reports and information required to serve the client are properly prepared and reported in accordance with company administrative policies
  • Respond to all technical and guarantee questions accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Knowledge of all common commercial roofing systems (low slope and steep slope)
  • Ability to estimate roof age and remaining service life of all common commercial roofing systems
  • Technically competent with field data collection tools

Preventative Maintenance Technician Role Requirements

  • Perform routine housekeeping of roof surface including roof drains and gutters
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance per manufacturer recommendations
  • Identify deficiencies above and beyond routine preventative maintenance

Requirements

  • 5+ years functional experience in commercial roofing, including inspections
  • Registered Roof Observer (RRO) a plus. Desire for professional growth including a willingness to become a RRO required.
  • Knowledge of all common commercial roofing systems (low slope and steep slope)
  • Ability to estimate roof age and remaining service life of all common commercial roofing systems
  • Technically competent with field data collection tools
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
  • Team player, but with the ability to work alone reporting to a dispatcher and team leader
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to learn web-based roof inspection program, routing software, and work order system
  • Ability to complete status reports timely and accurately
