PlayStation isn't just the Best Place to Play —it's also the Best Place to Work. We've thrilled gamers since 1994, when we launched the original PlayStation. Today, we're recognized as a global leader in interactive and digital entertainment. The PlayStation brand falls under Sony Interactive Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation.
This internship is for Summer 2019.
At Magic Lab, we help to Push the Boundaries of Play by looking at new technologies through the lens of PlayStation. We are looking for interns to help us prototype experiences using new technologies, working closely with the engineers at Magic Lab.
Prior interns have worked on experiences in virtual reality, with prior projects including a multi-user collaboration experience in VR in conjunction with NASA/JPL, and more recently a project to help create more compelling virtual characters. Projects are not limited to virtual reality, however; a recent internship project was a game that sought to bring PlayStation out into the real world, where players would play a game against an NPC which was a flying drone controlled by the PS4.
Our internships are typically broken up into two halves; with the first half focusing on exploration and the second half focusing on polishing a project. The outcome of the internship projects are then demonstrated to folks both inside and outside the company, through conferences and visits to Magic Lab.
