Overview
The School Telemedicine in Arkansas (STAR) is the first ever effort to bring telemedicine care to Arkansas’s rural School Based Health Centers (SBHC) by providing real-time on-the-spot care. The STAR program is grant funded through Health Resource Service Administration (HRSA) and is a partnership between the Center for Distance Health (CDH) and Arkansas Department of Education. The STAR grant includes three programs: HealthyNOW!, Behavioral Health, and Oral Health.

The Educator Coordinator provides online educational resources, physical activity opportunities, weekly health challenges, and outreach support of the HealthyNOW program. S/He offers distance education and one-on one consultation to STAR patients and their surrounding communities to improve and sustain good health.

Responsibilities
Development and Creation of Exercises and Graphics

Develops, implements and evaluates physical exercises, education and graphics for the HealthyNOW program on nutrition and wellness.
Interacts with Instructional Designer to create curricula that meets the age-, ethnic-, cultural-, and individualized needs of each SBHC.
Works with Exercise Science Staff at UCA to set health goals and assist overweight/obese patients to achieve these goals through diet and exercise.
Coordinates with the UCA Exercise Science Program to ensure all contract deliverables are met.
Production

Designs marketing and social media platforms for HealthyNOW program.
Responsible for production and editing for all social media, video and graphics.
Designs and promotes weekly challenges for social media and online presence.
Generates content for marketing materials, digital and paper distribution.
Respond to all digital STAR patient requests and concerns.
Programs

Responsible for analyzing, designing and implementing programs that center on improving physical wellness and emotional well-being.
Assists in patient enrollment and collection of parental/self-consent.
Collaborates with sub-awards and contracts to integrate clinical ideas and training into STAR.
Supports staff to engage SBHCs, patients, families, faculty, providers, and surrounding communities through myriad educational events and community interactions.
Provides monthly check-ins with partnering schools and patients.
Provides distance education and one-on-one consultation to STAR patients and their surrounding communities to improve and sustain good health.
Provides health promotion workshops, outreach, and consultations to faculty, staff, and student groups.
Participates in local and state health fairs and open houses at schools to promote programs.
Administers post wrap-up discussions and results to partnering STAR schools and patients.
Collects ongoing patient wellness metrics and provide as input to HRSA and CDH.
Incorporates needs assessment data and best practices into programming.
Outreach

Initiates campus and community partnerships to expand the scope and impact of health promotion efforts through HealthyNow.
Partners with community organizations to introduce topics on health and wellness best practices, initiatives and trends.
Initiates and responds to broadcast and print media request or seek opportunities.
Participates and assists with outreach programs such as promotional events including conferences, health conferences for state public health agency and nonprofit public health groups.
Organizes and leads community educational events to raise awareness of STAR.
Delivers health education and collects community feedback for STAR refinement.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Health Education, Exercise Science or related field PLUS at least three (3) years of experience with School Based Health Centers, weight loss/healthy living programs, and/or personal training, exercise/nutrition counseling or related
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access)
Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation with current and valid liability insurance for occasional work-related travel

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Health Education or Exercise Science
Experience in telemedicine
Experience in Marketing/Social Media

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience using web-based infographic application or design (ex Piktochart software)
Cisco based video conferencing platforms experience
Articulating Story experience
