JOB SUMMARY
At Houston Methodist, the Annual Gift Officer position is responsible for qualifying prospective donors for the donor pipelines in order to achieve and sustain annual philanthropic support to Houston Methodist. Participates in cultivation and solicitation strategies for special fundraising initiatives and defined targets to build the major gift pipeline through the active management and development of lead annual contributors and sponsors as directed. With guidance from department management, cultivates relationships with contributors and prospective contributors and asks for annual gifts in amount defined for Foundation annual giving programs, such as The Society, various service lines and Hospital initiatives

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE - 25%

Maintains a portfolio of mid-level prospective contributors to HM. (EF)

Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards contributors and prospective contributors for major gifts in all ranges as directed. (EF)

Interfaces with the Volunteer Relations and Special Events departments to support strategic enlistment and use of councils, volunteers and events for HM and assists with events that support key volunteer and donor pipeline development. (EF)

Interacts with other Foundation staff to facilitate preparation of grant proposals, acknowledgement letters, gift agreements, solicitation materials and stewardship reports for contributors in portfolio. (EF)

Qualifies potential prospects for the annual and major gift pipelines by acting as the initial contact for all unassigned donors. (EF)
SERVICE - 25%

Arranges and attends donor and prospect visits as defined by department metrics. (EF)

Actively engages stakeholders in the development and achievement of strategic initiatives. (EF)

Assists Center of Excellence liaisons with logistical support in developing and achieving goals of the strategic initiatives as required.
QUALITY/SAFETY - 15%

Ensures ethical compliance, as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals and all Foundation and Houston Methodist gift-related and administrative policies. Follows Business Practice standards for fundraising performance. (EF)

Document results of all substantive contacts with donors for team lead review and critique, and maintain documentation on a timely basis to be input by closing of each respective month, including contact reports, outlining donor strategies, proposal development and submissions per month. (EF)
FINANCE - 20%

Meets minimum agreed annual fundraising targets in dollars raised, contacts and solicitations. Drives timelines for solicitation and reporting.(EF)

Achieves target proposal success rate.
GROWTH/INNOVATION - 15%

Develops relationships inside and outside of the organization that enhance the organization's ability to integrate donors and potential donors into the community. (EF)

Under direction of department management, develops and executes innovative strategies for obtaining annual gift donations and donor recognition and stewardship.

Two years experience in institutional advancement and direct fundraising.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
