The Medical and Health Sciences Foundation (MHSF) was officially created as the fundraising entity responsible for the joint philanthropic ventures of UPMC and University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences. The MHSF acts as the central source for patients, alumni, and friends to contribute to any clinical or research endeavor at either or both UPMC and Pitt.

Under the leadership of the Director of Special Events and the Special Events Manager, the Special Events Coordinator will be responsible for managing various components of the Medical and Health Sciences Foundation special event’s efforts and initiatives. The incumbent will be required to be highly organized and to perform multidimensional, advanced level events while working independently and sometimes with minimal supervision.

The incumbent will be required to interact with various individuals including department heads, deans, directors, vendors, committee members, and individuals outside the work environment. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating support staff, interns, and others in planning and executing events.

Education Required Baccalaureate Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
A bachelors degree is required and a background in event planning, marketing/promotions, public relations, development and or hospitality would be most beneficial.

Strong analytical, oral/written communication and relational database skills are required.

Required Licenses/Certifications Child Protection Clearances
The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
