The senior staff accountant is responsible for organizing and managing client assignments and projects, including the completion of assigned tasks and project components, as well as working with team members to meet client and self-development expectations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Back office functions
  • Ability to compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with accounting staff on the timely completion of general ledger transactions, bank account reconciliations and payroll processing
  • Ability to work directly with clients on software training, accounting procedures, clean-up and general problem solving
  • Train accounting staff on firm procedures and software
  • Review accounting staff work
  • Ability to process and follow-up on rush items
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting or finance or comparable experience
  • 3-5 years’ general ledger accounting experience is required
  • Strong computer skills including comprehensive QuickBooks knowledge
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office and firm software applications needed for day-to-day completion of work assignments
  • Ability to communicate with clients in a professional, knowledgeable manner
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
  • Open to both CPA track and non-CPA personnel
