U.S. Citizenship and existing Secret CLEARANCE are absolutely required.

CENTRA is a rapidly growing defense consulting firm with major offices in Arlington, VA and Boston, MA. The Virginia office is looking for a qualified flight mechanics / flight controls engineer to provide technical and programmatic oversight of various research and development projects for DARPA.

Candidates will work closely with DARPA Program Managers as well as high level personnel throughout the government and also with industry research and development communities. Applicants must be technically strong and possess superior oral and written communications skills. Candidates should be self-starters capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Some travel is required.

Technical and management responsibilities may include:
Providing technical support and subject matter expertise in monitoring the execution of advanced technology development and demonstration programs.
Performing independent technical assessments and feasibility analyses of new technologies and system designs.
Attending, monitoring, and reporting on system field testing and demonstrations.
Supporting technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
Developing and running simulation models.
Identifying and implementing new program concepts.
Providing program management and acquisition support.
Authoring program status briefings and technical reports.

Required qualifications: Technical Qualifications Required:
At least 10 years of professional experience. An advanced degree is preferred.
Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering with at least 8 years of experience or an M.S degree with 6 years of flight mechanics design experience.
Platform concept development, requirements definition, and program support.
Emphasis on flight dynamics and controls.
Trajectory and performance optimization.
Guidance and relative navigation for air platforms.
Programming skills include Matlab /Simulink and a high-level language such as C++.
Experience with POST or OTIS, Missile DATCOM, and/or STK is beneficial.
Aircraft platform software development process including scrum master experience is a plus.
