We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Post Engineer to join our client's team!
As a Post Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth and efficient post-production workflows, designing and supporting AV systems, and troubleshooting technical issues. You will collaborate closely with the animation production teams, technical staff, and external partners to oversee and optimize the post-production process, from editing to final delivery. This role will support the day-to-day technical and creative needs of editorial teams, both working remotely and in-office, across animation films and series.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of engaging with Editors, Assistant Editors, and post-production management while partnering with the Workplace team to ensure a seamless creative and collaborative experience. As a key stakeholder in platform, tooling, and systems design, this individual will contribute expertise during implementation, commissioning, and ongoing development. The Post Engineer will serve as an essential partner and extension of the editorial crews.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with technology and infrastructure teams to ensure proper networking design and implementation, optimizing data transfer speeds and security for post-production workflows.
- Clearly and concisely explain complex technologies, workflows, and challenges in a simple, understandable manner.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and standards, recommending and integrating new tools and workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
- Provide training and support to post-production team members, fostering technical excellence and empowering teams to use tools and systems effectively.
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, workflows, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with Editors and Assistants across all shows.
- Liaise with the Workplace, Production, and Post Production Management teams to ensure Editors' needs are met with minimal disruption.
- Document and share best practices and create "how-to" guides for editorial teams.
- Build close relationships with software, hardware, and vendor partners to drive innovation.
- Offer workflow expertise and guidance to Editors, Creative, Production, and Post Management executives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors
- 5-7 years of experience as an Avid and/or Adobe Premiere Technician.
- Proven experience as a Post Engineer, System Engineer, or similar roles with growth in facility engineering or technology within post-production studios or vendor facilities.
- Extensive knowledge of networking design and troubleshooting, including LAN, WAN, VLAN, and VPN configurations.
- Proficient in supporting and troubleshooting both Mac and PC platforms, ensuring compatibility with animation software and tools.
- In-depth understanding of audio and video signal flows, codecs, formats, and industry standards, including SMTPE 2110.
- Experience with TV, computer monitor, and audio calibrations.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions quickly.
- Experience with Video and Audio over IP protocols and standards.
- Working knowledge of hardware such as workstations, components, displays, peripherals, networking, and storage solutions related to editorial workflows.
- Ability to identify software bugs, organize support requests, and close the loop on remediations.
- Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to explain and promote new and complex technology, tools, and workflows to diverse teams.
- Extensive knowledge of content creation and post-production workflows.
- Proven track record of innovation, initiative, and process improvement.
- Experience working with diverse teams across multiple functions and locations.
- Excellent organizational skills, proactive mindset, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to respond after hours for urgent or critical matters.
- Passion for animation and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
