What you’ll be doing...
Verizon is looking for an experienced, highly motivated attorney to serve as Staff Counsel in its New Business Incubation group. This position will provide support on diverse legal initiatives, including wide-ranging contract and operational support. The attorney will also develop and implement processes and policies. The position requires an attorney who has initiative and an eye for detail and is capable of adroitly managing multiple competing priorities in a very fast-paced and dynamic environment. This position will report to NBI’s General Counsel and will be based in either Morristown, NJ, or Dulles, VA.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Draft, review, and negotiate customer, vendor, and partnership agreements.
Provide advice and counsel to the NBI team and its portfolio businesses and competencies, including major initiatives, including implementation of processes needed to develop and launch new products and systems deployments.
Refine standard agreements and develop templates/best processes for existing aspects of the business.
Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations and contractual commitments.
Develop and draft company policies and develop and implement associated processes for compliance
Maintain excellent working relationships with NBI clients, Verizon legal colleagues, and other internal stakeholders while enforcing legal requirements.
Proactively identify and mitigate any areas of risk.
Advise leaders on legal matters impacting the business.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
JD degree and six or more years of relevant work experience.
Bar membership and needed licenses.
Six or more years of legal experience with a law firm and/or in-house.
Even better if you have:
JD degree from a top tier law school.
Experience with SAAS industries.
Experience with in location based services.
Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex contracts and statements of work, developing responses to proposals, and supporting internal sales clients.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to professionally manage time, prioritize multiple responsibilities, communicate both written and orally and process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with a high attention to detail.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently and autonomously, as well as part of a team.
Ability to provide legal analysis and counsel for complex transactions.
Ability to spot problems and develop and lead implementation of appropriate and creative solutions.
Experience in computer skills, including working knowledge of GSuite and Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel).
Ability to handle extremely sensitive and confidential information.
