The Business Analyst takes the lead on defining functional requirements as a part of Heartland ECSI’s evolving business strategy. This position works closely with Product Managers, Application Development, Operations, and other supporting departments to project detail to meet business objectives. The effective Business Analyst will quickly grasp an understanding of all Heartland ECSI products and services for the purpose of defining business and product detail associated with our strategic efforts. The Business Analyst must have the ability to effectively communicate established both internally to employees and externally to clients.
The Business Analyst must be able to work within a structured team using an Agile development process. This business analyst position is not singularly focused on technology. This position will include fleshing out detail on operational processes, products, and high-level technical functionality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Application Development, Operations, and other supporting departments to gather and document business, high-level technical and detailed operational business specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to extend user story detail so that the technical development teams have all necessary detail and specifications.
  • Work closely with UX Designer on wireframes so that the technical development teams have all necessary data and specifications.
  • Identify and track user acceptance testing defects and identify improvements.
  • Identify project dependencies and raise issues to leadership team.
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings to represent Product Management.
  • Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriate.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Job may require 10 hours or less travel per quarter.

  • A minimum of 5 year’s experience in business analysis or a related field.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
  • Advanced technical understanding.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Fundamental analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Experience creating detailed functional and business specifications (non-technical).
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A track record of following through on commitments.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
