The Role

Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking a motivated candidate for a project developer position. This position would support the Development Department and would report to an Associate Director or Director of Development. As a project developer of Cypress Creek development projects, this position requires managing between 2-5 projects and all their development activities. This position will focus on projects located in New York, which will generally have 24-48 month development cycles. An effective candidate will demonstrate sound industry and project development knowledge, superior leadership and communication skills, the ability to focus on minute details while still seeing the big picture, detailed organization, and a desire to solve complex problems. The right candidate will be someone who takes initiative, is results-oriented, and excels working with others across teams. The job is based in remotely in New York. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage and lead development activities by working with internal teams in areas including, but not limited to site acquisition, real estate and title, interconnection, engineering, survey, environmental, offtake, and policy
  • Prioritize, coordinate, review, and track key development deliverables with internal teams and external legal, zoning, environmental, interconnection, and engineering consultants
  • Manage and report project data as it pertains to budget, schedule, and deliverables
  • Achieve development milestones on time and on budget in order for projects to successfully move into financing and construction
  • Gather market intelligence and expand relationships with local government, utility, and other stakeholder groups to understand the project development and permitting processes
  • Prepare and submit land use permitting applications, manage development of site layouts for permitting and coordinate, and attend and present at permitting meetings
  • Review and manage project contracts including leases, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements to ensure compliance with their terms
  • Building strategic relationships with development, finance, and EPC partners
  • Regular travel to visit project sites, and other Cypress Creek offices
Requirements

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
  • Energy, real estate, engineering, or business related Master's degree is a plus
  • 1-3+ years' experience required in energy infrastructure development; experience with Article 10 and/or SEQR permitting is a plus
  • Located nearby or within, or willingness to relocate to, New York State
  • Project management, organizational, and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization and communication skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment
  • Results-driven and solutions-oriented
  • Ability to lead, manage, and mentor potential direct reports
