The Master Data Specialist will have responsibility to establish policies, standards, processes and tools that consistently define the critical master data for Avanos to provide a single trustable source of truth and implement the processes to manage data throughout its life cycle. The position also establishes accountability and ownership for key master data to improve data quality and resolve data discrepancies to achieve quantifiable results. This person reports to the Master Data Team Leader in the North America and will support Customer, Material, and Vendor master data globally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Govern a master data governance implementation roadmap to support all future state process and data improvement efforts
Write and review of data governance policies, procedures and standards in collaboration with cross functional teams. This would include, but not limited to: catalog of data, flow diagrams, and data dictionary.
Facilitate the development and implementation of data analytics
Lead the initiative with data owners to fix data issues and develop a remediation plan to prevent future data issues
Lead and implement new data initiatives to grow data and analytics competencies. Ensure the compliance of new initiatives to data governance e.g. by using central data catalogs and fulfilling quality standards
Fostering relationships with IT to ensure technical solutions align with business needs
Drive the harvesting of foundational metadata to include data definition, data quality rule, data profiling, reference code set, and all user defined metrics and custom data set to author and control changes.
Collaborate with data owners and stewards on the verification and the accuracy of the information collected and document their approval.
Provide technical lead to Data Owners and Stewards on data domain changes by supporting intake process, performing impact analysis, and conducting domain specific profiling.
Develop custom templates to assure end to end data lineage form Source system of records to reporting data layer.
Engage in data and metric standardization with data owner and steward and solicit formal approval for adoption into data dictionary and glossary to enable end-users improved comprehension of which metrics to use and when to use them.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer/Information Science, Supply Chain, Business Administration or other related fields or 4 to 6 years of equivalent professional experience
Proficient with Microsoft Office desktop tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint or SharePoint designer
Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management roles
Strong understanding of master data in ERP systems and the IT landscape in terms of tools, technologies
Proven ability to work with management and build relationships and trust with data users required
Experience in SAP S4/HANA
Working knowledge of healthcare claim, provider, membership, and product relation/process/ function preferred
Project Management Certification (PMI or equivalent) preferred
Minimum of 2 years of related overall professional experience, preferably in a healthcare provider environment required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Data Warehouse/ BI environment providing reporting /analytical support to end users required
Strong experience in data profiling writing and executing queries in SQL
Database experience a plus (i.e. Oracle, SQL Server, DBA)
Demonstrates strong communication skills and proven ability to work in a team environment
Demonstrates problem solving skills and the ability to make decisions on data cleansing
Strong attention to detail, with a focus on data quality
Excellent business requirements gathering and documenting skills required
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
