Big Buzz is an award-winning, full-service marketing agency serving clients across the nation in the industries of bioscience, senior living and specialty clinics. We are growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Business Development Manager with a passion for people, initiating new relationships and earning referrals and renewals. Our agency attracts 3-5 new sales qualified leads every week, and this person will funnel those leads from initial call to close.

The ideal candidate for this position is focused on people and building relationships. This person is outgoing, persuasive, communicative and friendly. This person has a proven track record in marketing for the healthcare industry, including brand and marketing strategy experience. The ideal candidate has good collaboration, negotiation and conflict management skills.

  • Funnels all sales qualified leads from an initial call to close
  • Regularly gains referrals that turn into new clients
  • Consistently reaches and exceeds quarterly revenue goals

About the Company

Fifteen years ago, I began working at a big marketing agency and eventually landed large accounts like Microsoft and Wells Fargo. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Primary duties/responsibilities include:

  • Qualify leads using established qualification criteria
  • Conduct with each qualified lead a call to gather initial goals and desired outcomes, making initial recommendations on marketing strategies, consulting, research and/or tactics custom to each lead’s specific needs
  • Based upon the lead’s goals and desired outcomes as well as the initial recommendations offered, work with the Project Manager to assemble the right group of Marketing Strategists to deliver the work, from our established pool of employees and contractors
  • Agree with Project Manager and Marketing Strategists on project parameters, have Project Manager develop an agreement
  • Present the agreement to the lead once without pricing for buy-in then a second time with pricing for verbal agreement
  • With support from the Project Manager and Marketing Strategists, answer all questions and address all concerns until lead is ready to close
  • Complete a closing call with the lead and CEO
  • Lead a kickoff call to hand off the new client to the Client Services Manager, who becomes the client’s main point of contact after agreement is reached
  • Attend business development events as needed, 5-6 annually, as an exhibitor, sponsor or co-lecturer with the CEO, depending upon the size and scope of the event and the candidate’s experience
  • Regularly ask for referrals and inspire the Account Management Team to do the same
  • Lead and manage the Client Services Manager, who leads and manages the Administrative Assistant; the three of you comprise the Account Management Team
  • Report Account Management Team measures of success to agency leadership team within the established constructs
  • Occasionally join meetings/calls with clients to tee up, funnel and close renewals

To ensure you achieve success in this role, you will have access to the following:

  • 3-5 new sales qualified leads every week
  • A sophisticated, well-documented and vetted consultative business development strategy currently used by the agency
  • A multitude of agency internal systems and structures to streamline processes and maintain focus

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Brand and marketing strategy experience
  • Background in business development and/or account management
  • Outgoing, persuasive, democratic – a people person
  • Excellent at tracking and reporting metrics (e.g. number of leads contacted, number of initial calls set, number of deals closed), and welcomes systems and structures
  • Agency experience a plus
