The Ford Plantation www.fordplantation.com, an acclaimed member-owned private luxury sporting club and community in Richmond Hill, GA, is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Equestrian team. We have an opening for an Assistant Manager who will be responsible assisting with lessons, trail rides, exercise rides and special events for members and guests. Administrative duties including Excel, Microsoft Office, Word experience, and helping with daily billing. 5 years of experience supervising staff in a show barn setting. We are a high-end facility assuring that all the horses are handled and cared for in the first class manner. Additionally, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for member and guest satisfaction, exceeding standards and enhancing member experience and life style at The Ford Plantation Club.
A team player is needed to add to our wonderful staff. The successful candidate should possess a College Degree with an emphasis in Equine Science. 5 years of professional experience working with and or training horses, possess the ability to teaching English and or Western discipline is a plus. Candidate that is a Certified Riding Instructor from an accredited association is strongly preferred. The Assistant Manager position will be required to help maintain the facility on a daily basis. The Assistant Manager will assist with the turnout schedule, cleaning stalls, feeding schedule, grooming schedule. This position will require a flexible schedule – morning & evening shifts, weekends and holidays, on call availability, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. A strong work ethic ,great communication skills are required for this position as well as excellent customer service ability. Experience working in a luxury residential community or hospitality organization is a plus.

The Facility private sporting club with a state of the art equestrian facility with 22 stalls, two air conditioned tack rooms, lounge, 3 wash bays, all weather GGT Footing arena, jump field, and 12 miles of trails. Our private boarding facility offers first class services to both our clients and their horses. Our facility caters to dressage, jumper, hunt seat and western disciplines.

Reports to: Director of Equestrian Center FLSA Class: Salaried/Exempt
Plans, implements, develops and maintains the equestrian program for members and guests of The Ford Plantation.
Provides a high level of professionalism to all members, guests and equine staff
Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a high end show barn in an Assistant Manager role
Must be a very competent rider with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a show groom or rider
Design, plan, and help implement equestrian activities for youths and adults.
Coordinates lessons, trail rides and special functions for members and guests.
Ensures appropriate measures are taken to in regard to the safety of all riders and horses.
Responsible for ordering and maintaining adequate supplies of medications, feed, supplements, hay, barn supplies for the equestrian center.
Lead coordinator of equestrian staff to ensure that the stable facility and grounds are clean, well maintained and in good repair at all times.
Responsible for helping schedule any equine service including veterinary services, farrier services and any additional services needed to support the horses’ wellbeing.
Handling emergency situations with professionalism, calm and care. Including emergency evacuations.
Ensures that equestrian staff fully understands the need for, and implements, a daily housekeeping schedule for the barn.
Involved in the hiring, training and evaluation of employees. Recommends disciplinary action and promotion/raises as necessary.
Ensure that all programs, lessons, rides, events, and activities are managed well and in a timely fashion.
Help with maintaining the feeding schedule, grooming schedules, medical charts, inventory list, supply lists.
Must be able to administer I.V. and I.M shots
Past history of running fluids, removing catheters, a plus.
Strong administrative skills- Excel, Microsoft Office, Jonas, Word experience
Assists in other departments and performs additional related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be a very competent rider with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a show groom and or rider
Minimum of 4 years as an Assistant Manager in a high end facility.
Certified Riding Instructor, a plus
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Standing, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Lifts up to 50 pounds occasionally up to 75 pounds. Vision must be correctable to read and write. Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation on the telephone and outside in a noisy environment. Must have hand usage to effectively work with the horses and track. Must be able to work irregular hours including evenings, holidays and weekends.
