The Operations Technician 5 position is responsible for the overall safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the power plant equipment (Siemens V84 3A.2 gas turbines), related systems and facility property. This position also requires close coordination with the corporate commercial department and is directly responsible for maintaining strict compliance with all safety and environment regulations.
Follows safe work practices and identify hazards and follow through on corrective action as approved by management
Coordinates plant operations and maintenance activities daily with the Real Time Desk and Commercial department
Performs regular equipment rounds, taking critical readings from instruments, reporting abnormal conditions and taking corrective actions as necessary
Responds to unit trips and abnormal operating conditions to maintain plant equipment in a safe operating condition
Install, calibrate, program, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, and maintain instrument & control equipment throughout the facility in a safe and professional manner
Performs instrument and control duties related to plant preventative predictive and corrective maintenance activities
Responsible for performing mechanical duties related to plant preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance activities including troubleshooting, repairs, and maintaining pumps, valves, piping, etc.
Responds to emergent situations including call-outs and outages
All other duties as assigned
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), trade school, military service or technical school training
If applicable, candidate will hold the required level of state license as recognized by the governing body of that particular state
Demonstrated working knowledge of generating station systems and equipment
Minimum of 4 years experience in power plant machinery operations and/or maintenance with a fundamental knowledge of combustion turbines and power plant operators roles and responsibilities
Proven mechanical, electrical and instrument troubleshooting skills
Basic PC skills for information processing and management (excel, word, power point….)
General knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
Ability to operate a fork lift and man-lift
