TOUR PLANNER: VAN GALDER BUS COMPANY, JANESVILLE WI
You will be responsible for planning retail and custom group travel for a motor coach company, including making all transportation and accommodation arrangements. Trips may be 1-day or extended-day excursions and may be motor coach, cruise or fly-away based. You will also sell tours to prospective customers, service customer accounts, answer incoming calls, help set overall division travel calendar and meet sales goals.
Associate Degree or greater preferred.
Prior travel/event planning preferred.
Well-traveled applicants preferred.
Experience with group travel, cruise lines, airlines preferred.
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
Effectively manage several projects concurrently
Strong customer service / communication skills
Ability to communicate with the general public with ease
Ability to sell all services offered by Van Galder
Must be able to work independently
Must be highly self-motivated
Fluent with MS Word/Excel
RESPONSIBILITIES: Handle all aspects of the Tour Planner position, including:
Answer / service incoming calls, providing quality customer service to all clients
Input client reservations into reservation system
Collect/post appropriate funds on client accounts
Create/maintain both extended and 1-day retail tours
Create/maintain both extended and 1-day custom tours
Make appropriate reservations at all vendors as well as research new destinations and new opportunities
Build/grow network of travel partners (clients, custom group leaders, attraction vendors) and maintain positive relationships
Cross-sell/up-sell tours and travel insurance to clients
Create/assemble all travel documents for passengers and Tour Escorts
Write captions/itineraries for tour guides as well as format them appropriately in MS Word
Work closely with co-workers in the office as well as Tour Escorts and Drivers in professional manner
Attend Familiarization tours as designated
Attend and actively participate in T&T travel shows
Other duties as assigned by management
