Full Job Description
The Upward Bound program at Wittenberg University is currently recruiting for a Staff Assistant. The Staff Assistant will provide clerical support to the Upward Bound staff to assist in carrying out the day-to-day operations of the program. This is a part-time, 20 hour per week, entry-level, support staff position. Regular scheduled work hours are 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to work some night and weekend hours for events or special programs.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Entering student and employee data into current system and maintain records to ensure accuracy
Maintaining office files
Performing receptionist duties
Scheduling vehicles for Upward Bound staff use and maintain mileage records
Disbursing student stipends and maintaining applicable records
Planning end-of-year banquets
Requesting and compiling student grades
Scheduling trips and events for tutors and teachers during the summer program
Ordering office supplies throughout the school year and summer program
Performing other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.
A high School diploma and 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience are required. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word. Knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and PowerPoint is preferred. A valid driver's license required; the selected candidate must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures.
Candidates must demonstrate:
Extensive computer knowledge with an aptitude for learning new software and systems.
The ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously in a demanding office environment
A high degree of accuracy, and great organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
