The purpose of this job description is to describe the authority, responsibilities, duties, and skills/requirements of the Social Analyst.
The Social Analyst is selected and placed into the position by the Social Director, providing overview of end result; work is completed unsupervised. Incumbent uses independent judgment and discretion to accomplish tasks. Has considerable latitude of discretion and judgment within scope of position. Develops creative solutions to complex problems.
The Social Analyst works closely with Digital & Social staff and traditional account teams to define goals and appropriate outcomes for social media analysis. The Social Listening Analyst is a resident expert on both in-house and third party analytical tools used to glean data-backed insights for the execution of best in class social media marketing strategies.
The social marketing analyst functions as the lead on assigned social media listening and reporting activities for new and existing clients as well as ad hoc requests from the agency.
Help lead on assigned social media listening and reporting activities
Help lead social listening meetings for the social team to learn social listening analytical tools
Help inform keyword targeting through social listening
Aid team with assigned client facing reports
Aid on assigned social media listening and reporting activities for new clients
Work closely with Research and Strategy to showcase social media findings with supervision of senior leadership
Create social listening funnel and hand raiser slides for new business tour deck
Fully train on social analytical tools Brandwatch, Vizia, and Zoomph
Supporting expert on both in-house and third party analytical tools used to glean data-backed insights for the execution of best in class social media and marketing strategies
Aid in the acquirement and appraisal process for new tools with senior leadership when it is time for renewal
Supporting expert on liaising with all social listening vendors to identify best practices and product enhancements
Stay on top of the latest technical advances and social media best practices
Build a multitude of algorithms a week in Brandwatch through Boolean based queries
Ensure dashboards and monitors for social listening are pulling brand related mentions filtering out all spam
Help in ad hoc requests from the agency - report data points for in-house findings to help decipher pinpoints for activation (Client Side)
Report exponential data into a clear format with insights
Conduct in-depth competitive analysis from a social media perspective
Create best-in-industry daily snapshot reports based upon social media listening data
Help define new reports and metrics to report on
Lead social audits for existing and new clients with the direction of senior leadership
Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Marketing, Business or other related field.
3+ years experience working in Digital or Social Media Marketing
Experience working with all popular social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.)
Proficient in social media measurement software (e.g. Sysomos, Brandwatch, Radian6, Simply Measured, Crimson Hexagon, Rival IQ) as well as Google Analytics and server-side measurement tools (e.g. Omniture).
Experience creating social listening filters and parameters within a social listening tool suite
The ability to spot trends and patterns in social media data and then dig deeper to find the root(s) of the trend
The ability to tell a story with research findings: Not simply cut and past charts and graphs
Flexibility: The power to work on diverse clientele ranging from traditional retail clients to quick service restaurants to hospitals and celebrities. women’s fashion to fast food to satellite systems.
Up to date with the latest technological advances and tools
Experience working with all popular social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
Ability to reconcile current technology trends with shifts in social media behavior.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail
