Role Summary:
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining software related to the Digital Workplace in an agile development environment. You must be able to work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across business. You will also contribute to design decisions and evaluation of technology stacks. Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts.

Essential Responsibilities:
Ability to take ownership of small and medium sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members. Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices. Helps drive software development best practices within the group. Expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project. Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems. Skilled in core data structures and algorithms and implements them using appropriate chosen language. Promotes transparency by proactively sharing design choices with appropriate audiences, with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness. Demonstrates expert understanding of functional and nonfunctional requirements and their priority within the backlog.

In this role, you will:
Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
Work with Product Owners and stakeholders to understand product requirements & vision
Work closely with the Front-End engineering and DevOps teams to deliver scalable, highly concurrent and fault-tolerant systems
Translate requirements into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards
Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
Coach, mentor and lead junior members of the team
Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables
Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
Communicate effectively with both internal and external teams
Engage subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge
Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using technology chosen
Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness
Make informed decisions quickly and taking ownership of services and applications at scale
Support and maintain legacy systems that provide critical business functionality across the organization

Qualifications/Requirements:Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) OR in lieu of a degree: a HS diploma/GED and 4+ years of IT experience or equivalent military experience/training
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in enterprise IT application development
GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be willing to work out of an office located in Providence, RI

Desired Characteristics:Technical Expertise:
Experience with Windows and Unix / Linux based programming
Expert level proficiency in at least one of the following languages - Java, C#, Golang
Experience working on software projects in the Digital Collaboration domain (content/document management systems or collaboration platforms)
Experience with ancillary technologies necessary for Internet applications: HTTP, TCP/IP, POP/SMTP, etc.
Solid experience with high-scalability projects involving cloud-based infrastructure design and implementation
Successful track record of developing quality software products and shipping production ready software
Successful track record for improving operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures
Solid understanding of Web Services protocols such as REST, gRPC, and API design for extensibility and portability
Solid understanding of Agile development methodologies
Solid experience with Relational Databases such as MySQL, Oracle, Postgres
Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, HBase, Neo4
Experience with Git-based source control systems
Working knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with reactive programming such as Java's Reactive Streams API
Experience with performance monitoring systems such as NewRelic
