Reporting to the Operations Manager/Transportation Managers with a dotted line to the Transportation Manager, the Mover Technician physically lifts, carries and/or pushes furniture, equipment, and cartons on wheels to and from trucks, offices and warehouses as requested by the customer. May assist in loading and offloading trucks from docks and/or on a lift-gate and setting & offsetting goods on equipment. Responsible to produce a quality move for the customer. Also physically and professionally disconnects and reconnects workstation PCs, peripherals, server components and related hardware, and/or provide daily help-desk solutions at an ROI account or projects as assigned. Assists the move process by communicating with supervisors, the end users/customer and other crew members. Uses extreme care not to damage goods or facilities during the move.
This position is also responsible for reporting and escalating any related issues about the job to the Operations Manager/Transportation Managers. Typically reports to the Operations Manager/Transportation Managers, but has a dotted line to the Driver, Lead Foreman, Driver Foreman, Supervisor, Project Manager, Dispatcher, and Operations Supervisor.
The Mover Technician is scheduled to work at different customer account locations to provide technical support for commercial moving, disconnect and reconnect projects. This position is responsible to ensure the customer’s requests relating to IT Technical support are performed efficiently and in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Account Assignments:
- Checks for start time (for next day’s work schedule) with dispatch daily.
- Arrives at Corovan dispatch office (or on-site), in complete uniform every day.
- Obtains daily work assignments from dispatch or operations manager.
- Pushes, pulls, lifts, carries, and moves furniture, equipment and boxes as required.
- Assists Drivers loading and unloading trucks using a ramp, dock, or lift-gate.
- Properly loads and unloads trucks from loading dock, using ramps or on lift-gates to protect goods being moved and supervises others doing the same. Completes all paperwork accurately and neatly and turns into operations daily.
- Handles and stages product, performs detail work and trash-out functions on install projects.
Technical Duties:
- Disconnects and reconnects PCs and other peripheral electronic desktop components per supervisor’s direction.
- Records basic system information on PC Disconnect/Reconnect Checklist such as serial numbers, manufacturer, model numbers and placement.
- Ability to properly install basic customer requested software, application, and system.
- Ability to assist in the support of the customer’s server room or lab room if assigned. Ability to correctly label, disconnect and reconnect components of a server rack.
- Capture the existing workstation layout at the customer site and ensure the new setup is placed the same.
- Labeling all the IT assets/inventories to ensure there is no missing items during the moving.
- Ability to manage different cables and wires to ensure a nice, neat, and safe workstation.
- Ability to perform network connectivity testing.
- Knowledge of network cable tracing and connect and reconnect IT inventories.
- Ability to effectively utilize CoroTrac software on portable electronic devices, take photographs, place labels, relocate and place items correctly at destination.
- Ability to strongly perform the Technical I level key responsibilities.
Customer Relations:
- Maintain excellent customer service with the customers, transportation, and operation teams to establish solid relationships.
- Must be punctual at all times. If an emergency arises, inform the supervisor and warehouse manager immediately, so that appropriate coverage can be arranged.
- Must work cooperatively with all members of the crew.
- Must be courteous, helpful, and professional to all existing and potential customers.
- Must be respectful of rules at each customer site as to where to work and adhere to meal and rest period locations.
- Must follow all confidentiality rules regarding any products or services that are visible at a customer’s site.
- Must follow all security rules for the company and assigned customers.
Safety:
- Performs work with quality, efficiency, and safety at all times.
- Must abide by all safety rules; to include proper safety gear and PPE (back braces, hard-hats, safety shoes, etc., if required by the customer), drive forklifts safely (seatbelt, slow speeds, ensuring trucks are chalked and using proper plates, etc.).
- Report any unsafe dangerous requests from customers to senior management.
Other Duties:
- Ensure timesheets and other documentation is completed accurately and turned in by the time requirement.
- If also a qualified installer, installs systems walls and splines, handles and stages product, performs detail work and trash-out functions on install projects.
- If also a qualified and approved driver, drives trucks up to and including Class A vehicles and or operates forklifts.
All other duties as assigned based on business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:

b. Must be familiar with and able to train others using various moving equipment and its proper usage such as dollies, carts, pads, straps, pallet jacks, forklifts, ramps, lift gates, and all specialty equipment including but not limited to roll-a-lifts, Genie lifts safe jacks, J bars, etc., etc.
c. Must be familiar with basic systems furniture nomenclature and be able to identify upon sight, the major lines of the three major manufactures: Steelcase, Herman Miller, and Haworth.
d. Must be familiar with project management reports such as Gantt and Pert charts and understand and interpret cut sheets.
e. Must be able to produce detailed inventories of all goods exposed to on O&I and install projects.
f. Must be able to accurately estimate small move and install projects to determine manpower, trucks, and equipment necessary to complete the tasks required.
g. Must be able to produce red-line and stick drawings. Has an understanding of space planning fundamentals and building Code.
h. Must be able to conduct a customer pre-move meeting, post destination signage and communicate all standard move and install protocol to the customers.
i. Must be familiar with laboratory moving including packing of lab equipment, fine tune and detail work, PC disconnect and reconnect and must possess good customer service skills.
j. Must be familiar with the O&I (Office & Industrial) move process and understand the move labeling and directional signage.
k. Must complete Mover I Level Corovan University training and pass the written tests. May also be required to pass Mover II, Installer I, II, and III, or be a qualified and approved Driver I or II.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
1. High School Diploma and/or general education degree (GED); or one to two (1-2) year’s related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Experience in handling computer equipment and other fragile devices with exceptional attention to detail.
3. Good understanding about computer hardware, cables, and connections.
4. If also a driver, a valid California driver’s license is required.
5. Valid driving record that meets the company’s insurance carrier’s requirements.
6. One (1) year of warehouse/moving or technician experience preferred, using various moving equipment and its proper usage such as dollies, carts, pads, straps, pallet jacks, forklifts, ramps, lift gates, and all specialty equipment including but not limited to roll-a-lifts, Genie lifts safe jacks, and J bars.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
1. Variable hours, non-exempt, part time regular position.
2. Employees might be required to work late evenings or weekends depending on the business needs.
3. All Overtime must be approved by manager before working.
TRAVEL:
This position requires travel around the local area, depending upon customer assignment.
