For the Voith Hydro, Field Operations department, we are looking for:

Site Manager

This Site Manager position is specifically for a Project Raccoon Mountain in Tennessee

Summary Statement:
This position is responsible for overall site supervision and site project management of hydro power plant equipment installations, upgrades and maintenance. Work will include hydro-turbine, generator, control equipment and all electrical and mechanical support equipment. Ensures work is performed in accordance with federal, state, corporate and customer safety regulations; contractual requirements; schedule; quality standards; and within budget. This position is accountable for maintaining a healthy, continuous improvement work environment so that Voith project management and technical practices are developed, incorporated, and shared across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare standard Voith project plan not limited to work packages, lift plans, resource management, project schedule, laydown plans, etc. prior to outage/installation for use and review throughout project start up and execution. Interface with all relevant departments during readiness and coordination.
Manage erection and commissioning efforts of hydro-electric equipment.
Single point accountability for planning, project execution and employees. Use resources effectively to meet or exceed project goals which include the following:
Safety – Ensures work is performed in accordance with federal, state, corporate and customer safety regulations. Employee will manage weekly and daily audits/inspections, inspection of equipment, and safety meetings. Ensure crew has proper training, instruction and tools to do job safely.
Quality – The goal is to provide the highest quality products and workmanship. Receipt, care and proper identification of parts. Identify quality issues, document proposed solutions, write all site reports and protocol sheets and ensure all field modifications have been approved and documented by required departments. Identify issues and troubleshoot quality problems. Ensure work is performed in accordance with inspection/test plan and field service erection manual.
Cost – The goal is to maintain or improve field budget position. Control cost to the contract by ensuring compliance with project budget. Forecast cost changes to Field Operations Management and Project Management.
Schedule – The goal is adhere to contract schedule. Control and monitor the schedule to the contract. Provide weekly updates of schedule progress to Field Operations Management and Project Management. Develop recovery plans in case of schedule deterioration.
Scope – Must have a thorough understanding of contract and scope of work.
Maintain superior customer relationships by setting high quality, safety and professional standards for all staff on site (uphold Voith Values). Develop/maintain open and frequent communication on site progress to stakeholders.
Review all contractual documentation (drawings, specifications, bills of material, etc.) to ensure compliance with the contract and Voith standards.
Ability to write professional technical reports and business correspondence both internally and externally.
Computer skills required including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Windows, internet and material resource planning databases.

Additional Responsibilities:
Continuously improve field performance by obtaining and sharing best practices and ideas.
Identify and communicate additional sales opportunities to Voith Hydro, Inc. management team.
Direct and set priorities for shift supervision.
Meets with the floor team to ensure proper site coordination and commitment to project schedule.
Safe utilization of tools and equipment for power industry.
Responsible for developing and mentoring staff.
Other duties as assigned.

Principal Working Relationships:

Combination of higher education (some journeyman trades accepted) and experience. Candidate will have at least 6 years of education and/or relevant experience.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
OSHA 30 certified and first aid/CPR certified preferred and will be required prior to site assignment.

Special Knowledge or Skills:
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Must work well, collaborate and be a team builder.
Must have the ability to make logical decisions under extreme pressures to resolve field problems.
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, control and/or hydraulic systems.
Strengths in planning, organizing and scheduling.
Ability to direct work and motivate both union and non-union personnel to accomplish goals.
Must be able to consistently prioritize and complete multiple tasks in the time allotted with minimal supervision.
Must understand the legal and technical aspects of the contract and have the ability to discuss and report.
Must have a high degree of ethics and morals.
Must be able to effectively handle finances on the company’s behalf.
Must be professional in appearance and behavior.
Ability to apply basic mathematical skills to support operations.
Ability to operate a vehicle and possess/maintain a valid driver’s license.

Physical Capabilities:
Must be able to properly wear and utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, safety boots/shoes, fall protection harnesses, life jackets, etc.
Must be able to properly lift 40 lbs. and carry it 10 feet.
Must be able to enter/exit through small entries (man doors).
Must be able to climb ladders, climb steps, etc. on a daily basis.
Must be able to evacuate site within required parameters.

Prior Experience:
Examples of applicable experience should include but not be limited to:
Site manager in construction industry.
Leadership role within hydro or other power generation plant design, operation and/or maintenance.
Leadership role within Navy nuclear power or power propulsion systems.
Lead Journeyman role or supervision in one of the following trades such as, Machinist, Boilermaker, Welder, Electrician, Millwright, Ironworker, Pipefitter, etc.

Other Qualifications or Requirements:
Travel will be 100%.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
