The Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation is seeking a Supervisory Therapist to work for the department?s Detention Service?s division.

The Supervisory Therapist?s primary responsibilities include but is not limited to: providing lead level clinical supervision to mental health counselors (therapists), volunteers, and psychology graduate student(s); reviewing and approving clinical records including intakes, individual treatment plans, progress notes, referrals and discharge plans; supervising therapist clinical management of those in crisis; developing behavior management plans; providing occasional direct individual psychotherapy to clients; participating in various committees and meetings; developing, approving and reviewing work schedule assignments; completing performance plans; and providing and supervising staff training on topics related to mental illness.

This is a full-time position. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm or 8:00am to 4:30 pm. The individual selected for this position will be considered an ?Essential Employee.? Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.

Prior to appointment, all applicants must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, medical examination and drug/alcohol screen.

Generally, this position is covered by the Retirement Savings Plan, Group RP. If the successful candidate is an internal employee, retirement plan coverage will be determined at the time the job offer is made.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.

Experience: Four (4) years of professional clinical counseling experience including at least one (1) year at the supervisory/lead level.

Equivalency: None.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment of, and maintained by, the employee:

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC);
Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT);
Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC);
Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C);
Licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; or
Licensed Psychologist.
Note: There will be no substitutions for this requirement.

A valid Class C (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence is required
