SUMMARY: Under general direction, performs responsible clerical and secretarial work for administrator(s) and in some cases, deans of students; performs non-supervisory work requiring independent judgment; does related work as required.Salary Range: $16.73 - $18.15ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.DISCLAIMER SOME ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY NOT ALL BE PERFORMED BY THE SENIOR PRINCIPAL CLERK.Maintains confidential records and filesMake bus reservations for various field tripsPrepares minutes of various meetings; prepares and updates teacher & student handbookPrepares, organizes and distributes correspondence, reports and mailingsSearches files for information needed in compiling statistical and financial reportsPrepares budgetary, statistical data, requisitions, purchase orders and payroll related itemsProvides clerical and related duties to staff and administration; scans historical recordsAnswers phones and questions, takes messages and routes callsMaintains necessary communication either oral or writtenEnrolls new students and corresponds with their previous schoolOrders supplies and equipmentAssists with or maintains supply roomReconciles bank and/or VISA statementsRequisitions repairsTravels between buildings when requiredMaintains calendar of eventsInputs information on computer including Power School, student contactsTracks in and out suspensions, students of the month, fire/evacuation plans, office detention schedule, afternoon attendance sheetsDispenses medication when requiredChecks and processes a variety of documents, maintains follow-up records and maintainsfilesAssists with preparation and organization relating to June and August GraduationHelps coordinate and plan special events and makes required reservations for eventsMaintains detention staffing and calendarManages student traffic to and from office area; monitors student behavior while in office areaCreates duties and schedules; finds coverage for lunch and bus dutiesUpdates MEDMS with behavior informationMaintain IPAD take home privileges and insuranceProcesses all Leave RequestsCoordinates Schools Summer ProgramStores and prints Report and Progress Report Cards for grades 3 6Enters and exits students from Infinite CampusKeeps a schedule of night usage of the school gymAssists school psychological service providers with copies of grades, test scores,attendance and log entries on students being testedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NoneQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff and students.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies. Knowledge of general office methods and procedures. Ability to greet people courteously.
