The Manufacturing Engineer evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include but are not limited to the following, other duties may be applied;

Utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, establish manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, safety and reduce cost
Work with production and quality departments to ensure fabricated parts meet customer specifications
Work with our sales department to effectively communicate manufacturing capability when quoting new production parts
Lead manufacturing process projects and related department activities
Assist in scheduling work assignments
Coordinate work activities with related work groups
Assist in establishing and reviewing group and individual goals
Provide technical assistance and manufacturing process support to the functional groups as required
Develop accurate manufacturing process data and other support documentation necessary for the conceptualization, documentation, validation, release and implementation of manufacturing processes
Ensure manufacturing processes perform as intended, are reliable, and are safe for manufacturing and the end use
Analyze and interpret engineering data for new manufacturing processes, manufacturing process enhancements or maintenance
Thoroughly document project activities, communications, verification results and recommendations as required
Interact with Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and suppliers to meet the specifications and needs of the customer in the development of new reliable manufacturing processes and products for the market
Provide engineering and technical assistance to all customers, both internal and external
Actively engage in the development and use of “best practices” as it pertains to manufacturing processes

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct the activities of engineers working on assigned projects
Lead and supervise project teams
Identify obstacles to project progress
Provides training and guidance to new team members
QUALIFICATIONS

Mechanically adept with an attention to detail
Advanced knowledge and use of precision measuring instruments
Ability to read and interpret specifications
Proficient with MS Office, MS Project
Knowledge, understanding and experience in software design platforms such as; Solidworks, Pro-E/Creo, AutoCad and Autodesk Inventor applications with the ability to analyze the information and implement manufacturing processes
Project management preferred
Advanced Blueprint Reading skills and understanding of GD&T and blueprints for fabrication and assembly operations
Ability to grasp complex concepts easily and pay attention to detail
Excellent planning and organization skills
Effective communicator, both orally and written
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

B.S. Degree in Engineering from an accredited
Five (5) plus years in a Manufacturing environment

Continuous improvement leadership preferred in:
Product fabrication (punch, laser, brake, stamping, welding, etc.)
Paint and powder coating
Manufacturing work flows
Developing robust manufacturing processes, including mistake proofing, Lean Manufacturing, 5S/Visual Workplace principles
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to write reports in the English language
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors and/or managers in the English language
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Eye protection required in all areas of the production floor
Foot apparel must cover all portions of the foot
Safety shoes/boots with metal or composite toe protection are required within production areas
Hearing protection equipment required while on the production floors
Other PPE such as gloves are required based on the task at hand
