Summary of Duties
The Physics Department, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Research Assistant 2 – Physical to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. Supports existing research projects on deposition of ultrahigh purity thin (nanometer scale) superconducting films, processing the films using electron-beam lithography, and packaging the devices in a detector assembly to be integrated in a helium cryostat. Associated activities include developing the ultrahigh vacuum deposition system for making the films, x-ray diffraction characterization of the films, characterizing the resistance of the device as a function of temperature, interfacing control computers to the system and undertaking quantum optics experiments using the detectors in collaboration with graduate research assistants and faculty associated with the laboratory. General lab maintenance responsibilities including but not limited to: maintaining laboratory equipment; instructing students in lab procedures and techniques. This position will function as a part of a team by collaborating with graduate students in the lab and attending weekly group meetings.

Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Engineering Physics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of physical science research is required. Experience in a physical science research capacity is required.
Target Salary $15.75 - $16.00 Hourly
