PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This role, initially under close supervision of an experienced fire technician, performs installation, testing, maintenance, inspections, programming and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems. Technicians are expected to require less supervision as they successfully demonstrate their knowledge, experience, and level of NICET certification. Other duties involve general administrative and project administrative support tasks for the Company, specific projects, and staff members. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workloads and multiple project tasks in support of the Company operations and goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with installation, testing, periodic inspections, and troubleshooting of fire alarm projects or services requests as assigned.
Diagnose problems and perform service repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related devices and components.
Follow factory recommended or prescribed troubleshooting procedures per technical manuals, parts manuals, and bulletins to repair equipment and components.
Perform equipment panel and field component terminations as required, field wiring and installation quality control inspections.
Perform basic fire alarm system programming, database modifications, configurations, and testing of fire and security systems.
Comprehend engineered drawings, schematics, project instructions, and technical manuals.
Provide field customer service activities and represent Arctic Fire & Security in a professional manner.
Train customers in the usage of all applicable products used on installations or system upgrades.
Prepare and complete testing and inspection forms associated with fire alarm systems.
Use various computer tools and software programs to configure and test fire alarm panels.
Provide project support duties such as logistics, packing materials, and coordinate shipment of materials to ensure more efficient execution of projects.
Generate new opportunities and sales with customers through service and on-going support.
Perform administrative functions as required to fully support position duties, responsibilities, and maintain a positive customer relationship.
Travel as necessary, which could be 50% or more of the time in this role.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work cooperatively and effectively with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company; exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
Experience with networking, fire alarm systems, or electrical low voltage is preferred.
Install cable supports, pull security and fire related cable.
Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, and commissioning devices.
Bring to the attention of the project or service manager incidents or circumstances that could affect the performance of the Company or projects.
Attend Company directed training courses; acquire and maintain factory certifications as required to perform primary responsibilities.
Other applicable duties as assigned.
CORE REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate degree in electronics or related field preferred.
2. NICET Level II certification or the ability of obtain in first year.
3. Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals. Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
4. Must have knowledge and experience with basic computer skills.
5. Must have working knowledge of computers and typical PC applications including word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), email (Outlook), and Adobe.
6. Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
7. Must demonstrate strong work ethics, safe work practices, excellent customer service and be punctual.
8. Must have a demonstrated ability to work in a highly diversified working environment.
9. Ability to travel often in small planes and work in remote Alaska as necessary, overnight travel may be required.
10. Ability to lift & carry 50 pounds on a regular basis, routine walking, standing, bending, climbing ladders.
SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, General Contractors, and subcontractors outside the Company.
2. Must have excellent problem-solving decision making, analytical thinking and interpersonal skills to interact with co-workers and customers effectively.
3. Must have a demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
4. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $64,000.00 per year
