Role Summary:
Serve as technical lead for GEHC Cell Culture Service custom media and process development projects. Work cross-functionally within the cell culture media development team to ensure successful customer project outcomes. Be responsible for initiating and executing service projects as well as applications studies in a team and/or individual settings. Participate with and assist the Cell Culture Process Science Leader in activities of developing and progressing cell culture media opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities:Lead execution of media/process development service projects:
Independently design experimental plans
Lead and participate in study execution
Analyze experimental data
Present study results internally and externally
Author interim and final project reports
Respond to customer technical concerns via telephone and email
Develop personal technical credibility with the customers by making tangible contributions to the customer’s end goals
Maintain lab notebook and training file in accordance with relevant GEHC standards and other applicable standards (ISO compliance, GLP requirements, etc.)
Conduct applications studies to generate data to support tcell culture service offerings
Evaluate and develop new methods and technologies for cell culture service projects
Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process gaps; providing solutions when possible
Responsibilities may also include training others
Contribute to scientific publications and/or conference presentations
Some (<10%) travel may be required

Qualifications/Requirements:
PhD in Life Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline with 0-3 years of industry cell culture experience or MS in Life Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience in cell line development, upstream cell culture process development and/or manufacturing within a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company
Direct experience in cell culture media development and/or media/process optimization
Track record of working with industry relevant cell lines (e.g., CHO, Vero, BHK, HEK 293)
Design of Experiments (DoE) experience and solid skills in statistical design and analysis
Excellent communication skills (writing, articulating, listening, questioning)
Ability to develop oral and poster presentations with available application datasets

Desired Characteristics:
PhD in Life Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline with 2-3 years of industry cell culture experience
Diverse hands-on experience in multiple cell lines and bioreactor systems highly desirable
Strong time management and organizational skills
Proven ability to contribute in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
Willingness to learn and adapt to changing environments; and empower and inspire others
Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and evolving customer-focused environment
