We have opportunities for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) professionals to support our government client. Workload is focused upon supporting the safety and health management needs of a large Federal agency, with significant presence in the Washington, DC area, as well as significant personnel distributed through the United States. This position has the ability to work remotely, in one of the following locations: Detroit, MI, Milwaukee, WI, Port Columbus, OH, Indianapolis, IN, or Minneapolis, MN.
Providing safety and health assistance to management, supervisors, employees, and collateral duty safety representatives
Reviewing incident reports and ensuring reports and findings are accurately entered into a safety management system
Performing safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirements
Providing specialty safety services and assessments addressing requirements that include ergonomics and industrial hygiene
Developing and delivering customer training one-on-one, in groups, in classrooms, and via web-delivered media
Providing outreach to agency employees, promoting safety awareness throughout the organization.
Investigating complaints and reports of unsafe or unhealthful working conditions; provide recommendations for abatement action; and verify completion of abatement action
Maintaining recordkeeping for injury/illness cases in accordance with OSHA requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, health physics, biology, human factors/ergonomics or other safety related field is required.
Additional requirements are:
Familiarity with OSHA regulations, to include 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926, 29 CFR 1904, and 29 CFR 1960
Three (3) to five (5) years of work experience in occupational safety and health; experience in Federal government workplaces is desirable but not essential
Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE), or related safety and health certifications are highly desired
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong skills with Microsoft Office software and utilization of information systems
