Assistant Professor of Writing & Rhetoric and Director of First-Year Writing
Drew University is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric and Director of First-Year Writing. This position is a three-year renewable contract pending successful annual review. Normal teaching load is 3/3 with two course releases for administration (one course release in the first year).

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching a variety of courses including writing studio, Writing Seminars, introduction to writing studies, and courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise. Administrative responsibilities to begin in full in the second year include directing a first-year writing program comprised of writing studio and writing about writing courses, providing writing support for WAC faculty teaching first-year writing seminars, and working with the Director of Writing Across the Curriculum to strengthen writing across the college. The successful candidate will join an English Department with a new Writing and Communication Studies emphasis and work with an engaged faculty to develop that emphasis and strengthen the English major.

Requirements:
Ph.D. in Composition/Writing Studies required by December 31, 2018. Candidates with an interest in teaching or developing courses in civic engagement, linguistics, second language writing, rhetoric, and/or introductory literature are strongly encouraged to apply.
