Social Media Strategist
The Social Media Strategist is part of our Digital Marketing team, reporting to the Director – Digital and Marketing Operations.
The role serves as a subject matter expert for common social media and networking services, working closely with multiple stakeholders to develop, design and recommend comprehensive social media plans. They will demonstrate proven, successful experience with executing effective campaigns based on appropriate parameters, best practices and current methodologies for each tool.
The Social Media Strategist also works with our distribution partners to develop social media content to help them drive business, recruit and amplify the National Life brand. Additionally, they conduct social media field training for multiple distribution channels and key distribution partners and help implement best practices and guidance.
The role helps lead innovation to develop, support, analyze and measure social media strategies & marketing efforts. They will build and improve on existing stakeholder relationships to better leverage adoption, and will assist with idea generation and concepts that will support our business and engagement with the Main Street brand.
The role is responsible for managing day to day social media activities, including but not limited to:
Implement social media strategy while managing and monitoring social channels.
Curate and manage content to be used across multiple platforms.
Maintain an editorial calendar and managing to business priorities (i.e. product launches) work with creative and content teams to populate, review and prepare content for posting to social media channels.
Help build online connections and facilitate relationships through an effective online presence.
Must be customer-centric and embody servant leadership values.
Able to work across teams and gather and process/analyze/evaluate input from various groups.
Understand SEO, keywords, social signals, engagement, paid advertising.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Perform competitive analysis and track industry best practices.
Understand the importance of compliance-approved communication and materials in a highly regulated industry.
Analyze, prepare and deliver reports to internal stakeholders on content performance.
A minimum of 3 years of direct experience in social media marketing. Knowledge of insurance and financial services a plus.
A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising or related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Solid understanding of the principles of branding and brand marketing
Superior and versatile writing ability across a variety of content styles with attention to audience and brand voice
Expert ability to synthesize information and write clearly and concisely, while conveying complex subject matter to various audience groups and demographics
Ability to influence and communicate across all levels of the organization in order to gain cooperation of others
Experience with graphic design and tools (such as Photoshop) helpful
Must have a solid understanding of social media publishing tools and experience with common platforms (such as Hearsay, Hootsuite, etc.) and functionality
Must enjoy working in a fast paced environment

Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and ask questions
