Senior Systems Engineer

The systems engineer has the responsibility of administrating, maintaining, monitoring, expanding and troubleshooting our 24x7 storage infrastructure in multiple data center locations. The systems engineer will work with other team members to ensure 100% availability for our hosting and SAAS infrastructure.

What You'll Do

Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation and management of our global infrastructure environment
Work closely with business owner to ensure that systems and services move smoothly from concept to production environments that have 100% uptime requirements
Communicate clearly with peers as well as management and provide technical leadership to more junior team members.
Perform hands-on analysis of the production systems, fault resolution, capacity planning and root cause analysis for critical issues
Analyze and resolve performance issues, capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data
Proactively monitor the systems to ensure high availability services with minimum downtime
Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures and documentation
Participate in on-call rotation supporting systems after-hours, weekends and holidays
Upgrade and configure system software that supports global infrastructure applications per project or operational needs. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
Manage and escalate cases to vendors for problem resolution
Implement service packs and cumulative updates
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
Build tools to automate processes and operate production systems
Interact daily and develop and sustain productive relationships with internal and client resources at multiple levels through collaborative, consultative service
Collaborate with all functional areas of the business to identify, analyze, prioritize, mitigate and communicate project risks
Attain relevant technical and professional knowledge of applications, the discovery process, and related topics through training, vendor meetings, seminars, vendor materials, and documentation, self-study, user group meetings inside and outside the firm, industry networking, and professional journals

Management of Azure components such as active directory, Office 365 etc
Working knowledge of MS SQL
Strong understanding of data center design and principles - hosting experience a plus
Experience with MS SCCM or other monitoring style packages
Ability to plan, scope and estimate work effort to produce high quality deliverables on time/on budget
Expert level understanding of Microsoft active directory principles and design
Expert level of Hyper-V and datacenter infrastructure design
Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to speak clearly and with authority
Able to work with diverse teams (national and international) in a collaborative manner
Intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn new concepts quickly and efficiently
Highly solution focused; strong sense of urgency with a passion for 100% availability
Tenacious problem solver under pressure
Experience in building scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructures to support cloud computing & remote hosting
MS powershell or similar scripting language
Extensive background in hardware maintenance and support as it pertains to a data center operations
ITIL or other process frameworks

What You'll Need
7+ years of progressive experience with large scale technical infrastructure including on-premise, public cloud and/or private cloud
B.S. in Computer Science, related field or comparable job experience
Extensive experience operating highly-available, high-volume environments, ideally in a SaaS or commodity website environment using primarily Microsoft based solutions
Working knowledge of security principles as related to infrastructure management

Served in a leadership or key influencer role
MSCE or other industry certifications
