We are expanding and looking for an energetic, self-propelled Technical Artist to join our creative team. In this position you will be helping artists diagnose and solve technical problems so that you can help them realize their artistic vision. You will bring your expert knowledge and experience in Unity to work directly with our artists and developers, enhance the visual quality of our games, manage 3D assets and materials and generate scripts in C#. What you should bring to the table
At least 3-5 years of experience as a Technical Artist within the mobile games industry.
At least 3-5 Years of experience working with Unity. (Certification as a Unity Technical Artist a plus!)
A high level of comfort and confidence working equally with game art and programming.
Mature understanding of C#.
Strong understanding of Mecanim-Animator and Asset Bundling within Unity.
Able to create artist tools and scripts to streamline productivity.
Knowledge of Adobe art packages ranging from texturing to FX. Knowledge of 3D a plus but not a focus in this role.
Able to think creatively to resolve technical challenges and limitations.
Able to work well as part of a team with minimum supervision.
Professional: good attitude, focused, meets deadlines consistently, open to collaboration and feedback.
Winning the jackpot
Collaboration is key! Throughout your first year you will serve as a bridge between art, engineering, and design. You will work closely with developers, artists and designers and advance our visual style while offering advice and examples of how our game concepts can be realized within the Unity game engine! We hold each person accountable for their actions and expect you to be a positive influence that executes assigned tasks while helping your team members whenever possible. Since you are always growing as a(n) artist/designer being able to take feedback professionally and having the ability to develop art to manage and project expectations in a timely manner is how we roll!
Placing your best bet
Work with the lead artist and make pipeline improvements through tool building.
Improve workflow from any art tool (3D, Photoshop etc.) to Unity.
Work with the devs side by side to fix art issues through code if necessary.
Write shaders, investigate existing shaders, improve frame rate if necessary.
Make suggestions to dev and art on how best to work with Unity for any given feature.
Investigate art issues to determine if the issue is within dev or art.
Contribute to overall game asset organization – minimize our footprint while maximizing the player’s experience.
