The part-time Admissions Tour Guide to provide a welcoming and informative experience to prospective families interested in our Punahou. The Tour Guide will conduct brief tours, showcasing our vibrant classrooms and the surrounding neighborhood, followed by a family/parent interview session to address specific family inquiries. This role is pivotal in representing our school's values and ensuring prospective families receive a personal and thorough understanding of what we offer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct Guided Tours: Clearly articulate the features of the kindergarten classrooms and neighborhood, engaging with the audience to make the information relatable and interesting. Tailor the presentation to address the diverse concerns and interests of prospective families.
- Individual Family Meetings: After the tour, sit down with families to discuss their specific questions and concerns, providing thoughtful and personalized responses that help them understand how their child might fit into the school community.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Manage the timing of tours and subsequent individual meetings efficiently to ensure that each family receives adequate attention and that the day’s schedule runs smoothly without delays.
- Representing the School: Serve as a frontline ambassador for the school, embodying its values and ethos during interactions with prospective families. Ensure all information provided is consistent with school policies and accurately reflects the educational environment.
- Confidentiality and Discretion: Handle sensitive information about prospective students and families with confidentiality and integrity, respecting privacy and ensuring that discussions and documentation are treated with the utmost discretion.
- Work Year: 9 month
- Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. After work hours, weekends, holidays for special events as needed.
- Starting Hourly Rate*: $30.00
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
- Three years work experience in an independent school environment, preferably in admissions.
- Warm and hospitable speaking and written communication skills.
- Aptitude for and comfort level with technology. Including a familiarity with online applications, video.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and facilitate an equitable admissions experience.
- Possess a collaborative, go-getter attitude to partner effectively and efficiently with members of the Financial Aid and Admissions Team, faculty, administrators, and other school departments.
- A positive outlook and genuine desire to collaborate with families.
