Our Energy & Industrial Group currently has a new opportunity for an Experienced Mechanical Engineer in our headquarters in Chicago, IL.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Support the development of integrated fire protection system designs to be implemented at both industrial and energy-generating facilities
Support the development of integrated HVAC system designs to be implemented at both industrial and energy-generating facilities
Support the development of integrated plumbing system designs to be implemented at both industrial and energy-generating facilities
Prepare engineering studies to evaluate system designs
Perform calculations to support the detailed designs for the planned work
Prepare flow diagrams, P&IDs, and/or schematics for the planned work
Prepare technical specifications to support the procurement of equipment and components that comprise of fully engineered systems
Review studies, calculations, specifications and all other deliverables associated with the development and implementation of system designs
Reviews shall ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
Provide support in the planning, scheduling, budgeting, conducting, or coordinating of the detailed design phases of all aspects of facility engineering work
You will provide support to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to assure a complete and timely design
You will assist senior engineers with reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, and may present findings and recommendations to clients and peers
You will work on challenging assignments that include designing of systems, investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering issues
Develop your career via peer-learning through sharing of knowledge with other engineers by way of S&L's systems of process and associated "Communities of Practice."

Essential skills and experience:
BSME from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program is required; MSME preferred, plus 7-10 years of relevant experience.
Experience with HVAC system design and related terms
Experience with Fire Protection system design and related terms
Experience with Plumbing system design and related terms
Prior knowledge of relevant codes and standards
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Able to create design flow diagrams, P&IDs, and schematics using computer design software
Familiarity with office and engineering software including AutoCAD and load calculation programs such as TRACE
Work experience in the industrial service industry
PE license preferred
